hell no's and headphones

MADELYN WAS HIDING IN THE HOTEL BATHROOM, HEADPHONES PULG I TO HER PHONE AS SHE TOOK OFF ALL HER MAKE UP TO GO TO BED. Beau was on face time to her, catching each other up on the day's events.

"So you met his teammate, who told you Daniel called you pretty?" Beau confirmed.

"Yep. Then Nico hurried of with Oscar to escape Daniel glaring at him." Mads said as she peered into the mirror to wipe off her eye makeup.

Beau let out a chuckle. "Oh that's perfect."

Madelyn frowned. "What's perfect?"

"Oh come on Mads. This is like, something out of a romance novel. The hot, sexy, kind, good-with-kids famous race car driver fancies you." Beau said, laughing.

"Oh, come on Beau he does not fancy me." Madelyn dismissed.

She heard Dom's voice through her headphones, "What about Daniel fancying Mads?" He sat down beside his girlfriend, throwing an arm around her shoulders and she leant her head on his shoulders.

"Nothing Dom, because he doesn't." Madelyn said, giving Beau a slight glare.

"Whatever, he totally does." Beau said. "And you totally fancy him too."

"Hell no! I do not fancy him!" Madelyn gasped, almost in disgust. "I've known the guy for two days, I can not possibly fancy him. You two have met me, you know how hard I am to please."

Dom nodded. "It's true. Think about how many dates we've set her up on and she's come home displeased."

Beau rolled her eyes. "Okay, but this is ones of those rare occurrences where you've found someone who a) definitely likes you, b) likes Oscar and is willing to be around him and look after him, and c) is Daniel Fricking Ricciardo!" Beau exclaimed.

"Look Beau, I know you want me to find somebody. Trust me, I do too. I'm two years away from 30 and single. That's not ideal." Mads sighed. "But I'm also not gonna' jump at the first guy who seems mildly interested. Even if he is a famous race car driver."

Beau gave her friend a sympathetic look. "You're seeing him tomorrow right?"

"Beau-"

"Just think about what I said yeah?" Beau said, making a deal with her best friend.

Madelyn placed all her make up remover down, finished taking off all her make up and sighed. "I'll think about it." she said, only to make Beau happy. There was no way on this Earth that Daniel fancied her, or that she fancied him.

"Alright. We're gonna' go to bed but I love you, and we'll try and spot you in the garage tomorrow." Beau said, giving her friend a wide smile.

Madelyn returned to smile, bidding goodbye to the couple, before ending the call. She unplugged her phone, and left the bathroom, turning off the light as she left.

She jumped when she saw Oscar sat up in the single bed next to her double, wide awake. "Buddy I thought you were sleeping? You got a big day tomorrow."

"Are you in love with Danny?"

Madelyn was taken aback by the question, "Uh- no. Where did you get that impression?"

Oscar shrugged. "I heard you talking to Beau on the phone. You weren't very convincing." he said, giving her an innocent smile. "Is Danny gonna' be my new brother?"

Madelyn let out a small sigh. She walked over to the single bed, and sat on the end, ruffling Oscar's hair slightly. "I hate to disappoint, but I was telling the truth. I don't like Daniel that way." she said, letting him down softly.

"Oh okay." Oscar said, slightly disappointed. "We're still going to the garage tomorrow right?"

"Yeah of course buddy. Wouldn't want to miss that." She said, giving him a big smile. "Speaking of which, you need to go to sleep. You don't want to doze off in the middle of the race now do you?" she teased.

Oscar shook his head frantically. "I would never!" he said, his tone firm, but also joking.

Madelyn chuckled slightly before she stood up off the bed, giving her brother a kiss on the forehead. "Good night Oscar."

"Night Maddy. I love you."

"I love you too little buddy."

DANIEL WALKED INTO HIS HOTEL ROOM, SEEING THE FAMILIAR SIGHT OF HIS FOUR FRIENDS ON THE SOFA AND AROUND THE TV.  "Hey kids." he said, announcing his presence to the four.

There was instant uproar.

"How come they got to meet Madelyn!?"

"Daniel mate sorry about the pretty thing I didn't mean to-"

"You're in love with her aren't you?"

"Mate she's a stunner! How did you pull her?"

"Woah woah woah woah woah." Daniel cut in, holding his arms out. "Okay first of all, since when is Madelyn now our only topic of conversation? Second Max stop being a baby, I didn't plan for Nico or Lew to meet her, third, Nico don't worry about it, fourth, Lew I didn't 'pull her' and fifth I'm not in love with her Seb." he said, taking a deep breath afterwards.

Sebastian gave him a skeptical look. "I don't believe you. Not after what Nico and Lew told us."

Daniel frowned. "Well what did Nico and Lew tell you?" he asked, glaring at the two, who practically shrunk into the shadows of the room.

Max piped up from the sofa. "Said that they talked to her, and when she wasn't looking you were staring at her all heart-eyed."

"Oh they did, did they?" Daniel said, giving Nico and Lewis a sarcastic smile, before turning back to Max and Seb. "Look, I'll admit she's pretty, but I don't fancy her alright?" he said, looking back and forth between his four mates, for confirmation they understood what he was trying to say.

Unfortunately, for him, they didn't seem to get the message. Max sighed. "Look mate, it's been a couple of years since Kaley-"

"Max." Daniel interrupted, his voice no longer backed with the slightly joking tone it always did.

Seb placed a hand on Max's shoulder, telling him that he had it covered. "What Max is trying to say, is we know how long it's been since you've had a girl in your life you care about. So maybe-"

"I don't care about her! I mean- I do in a way but not the way you lot are thinking about." Daniel said waving his hands about. "I just want to give her brother a good birthday that's all it is."

"And why do you want to do that?" Lewis asked tentatively.

"Because I-" But Daniel could give them a good reason. He didn't know why himself. He didn't know why he felt so drawn to Madelyn and Oscar. "I don't fancy her alright?" he said simply.

Nico walked passed him, patting him on the shoulder. "Whatever you say mate. Whatever you say."
