Chapter 1
“So are you going to Louis's party this Saturday?” Kylie asked me as we hustled through the busy halls of our school. “No.” I replied casually as we stopped at our lockers which were conveniently next to each other. “What?! Why not? It’s going to be the biggest party of the year! He pretty much invited the whole school!” Kylie reasoned as we opened up our lockers to put away our books.
“Kylie, do I look stupid?” I asked rhetorically. She rolled her eyes but still motioned me to go on. “Of course I’m going to his party.” I said while applying lip gloss to my lip gloss deprived lips. “What? I thought you sai-.” “Yes. I know what I said. I am going. We’re just going to make him think that we aren’t so that he’ll beg me to go. After all, I am the life of the party.” I smiled jokingly.
“Oh I see. You really do have those boys wrapped around your pinky don’t you?” Kylie raised her eyebrows. I chuckled at her question. “I guess I do. Come on, let’s get some food.” I told her as we bee lined towards the highly complex alternate universe known as, the cafeteria.
Kylie and I grabbed our plastic trays and made our way to the end of the line. “Hey Porscha! I love your hair today!” A girl complimented me. I smiled gleefully at her, saying my usual thank you and proceeded further up in the line. “Have you gotten used to it?” Kylie asked suddenly. “Gotten used to what?” I asked curiously, unsure of what she was talking about. “You know.. Being the school’s it girl. Having everyone love you so much. Receiving compliments left and right.” She explained.
I laughed before I said, “Well, no not really. I guess I’m still trying to figure out why everyone likes me.” “Well duh. You’re like the nicest person ever! I’m not just best friends with anyone, you know.” Kylie winked. “Yeah I know. I’m honoured.” I teased, familiar with her and picking her friends.
“What do you girls want today?” the lunch lady asked. “I’ll have the ham and cheese sandwich and an orange juice.” Kylie said. “I’ll have the same.” I told the lunch lady. The sandwiches were then placed on our trays and she gave us the orange juices too. Kylie and I made our way to the centre of the cafeteria to sit down at our usual table. “Have you guys ever noticed how hot Hannah Jennings is?” Harry asked the group as Kylie and I set our trays down at our table. “God Harry, she’d never go for you.” I rolled my eyes.
“What makes you say that?” Harry asked, furrowing his eyebrows. “She’s my chemistry lab partner. She told me she has a thing for Zayn over here.” I nodded towards the dark haired boy sitting at the end of our table. “She said something about liking his tattoos and the ‘bad boy’ look.” I said while using my fingers to quote ‘bad boy’. Harry made a pout but continued to eat.
“Are you girls going to my party on Saturday?” Louis asked Kylie and I. “Hmm.. I dunno. I think I have plans.” I lied coolly, trying to stop a smirk from playing at my pink lips. “What?! Plans more important than my party?! Porsche, you have to go! Please, please, please, please, please..” He continued. “I don’t know..” I started slowly. As expected, Louis got down on his knees and continued to beg. “Fine. I’ll go.” I sighed, trying to look like I had to give up tea with the Queen. Under the table, I high fived Kylie. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her mouth ‘mission accomplished’.
“Hey guys. Look.” Liam sat down and nodded towards the boy with glasses in the corner of the cafeteria. He had his blonde head buried in a Harry Potter book while he slowly munched on a sandwich. His hair flopped down touching the rims of his glasses. He looked he would have been scared of his own shadow. Nonetheless, he looked adorable. “God, what a loser.” Kylie scoffed. The four boys agreed. “What’s his name?” I asked, ignoring Kylie’s comment. “Nail something.. I don’t know and don’t care.” Zayn said diverting his attention from the boy and back to his food.
“Oh yeah. I’ve heard of him. He’s an exchange student from Ireland, I think. He’s in my Music class. His name is Niall Horan.” I explained to the group. “Trust Porscha to know everything about everyone.” Liam joked. I glared at him. “I’m not a stalker. I just happen to know people who know people.” I reasoned. “He’s such a weirdo. I mean, Niall? Really? What kind of name is that?” Harry said. “He seems nice. I heard him sing in Music yesterday.” I said, still not taking my eyes off of Niall.
“I don’t like him.” Louis said, picking at his food. “You haven’t even said a word to him, Lou.” I explained. “Whatever.” He rolled his eyes. “If you like him so much, why don’t you go talk to him?” Kylie challenged. “Okay. I will.” I started to stand up before Harry stopped me. “Wait. Not just that.” The curly haired boy looked at the group and grinned evilly. “What do you mean?” I asked, confused.
Harry whispered something in Louis’s ear and Louis smiled and passed it around the table. I started to get suspicious. “What do you guys want me to do?” I asked, squinting my eyes in suspicion. Harry got up and stepped over to my side of the table because he was sitting across from me. He grinned like a Cheshire cat and said, “We dare you to ask him out on a date.”
