Aurelia stared at the window, watching the snow swirl in the wind outside. Like spirits dancing, a flurry of silver against a dark sky. It was early in the morning and she couldn't sleep, even with how heavy her eyes felt.
A man peacefully slept on her chest, and his weight felt like guilt. Regret and shame pierced her heart every time her chest went up and down and felt him there. She didn't want him to wake up and leave.
She thought about what happened, replaying it over and over. She had.. Sexual Intercourse. With Montgomery Navarro. Montgomery Navarro! The prince of Ice Kingdom. A selfish man, maliciously aware of his people's troubles; choosing to exploit rather than provide. Who only cares for what pleases him and his posee of rich nobles. He couldn't care less what happened to his people, he only loved what they could give to him. He would rather see them suffer than be deprived of anything he wanted at that moment. He was greedy, he was maladjusted and rude, he was just plain mean. Aurelia hated him terribly.
But did she?
Was that really the truth after what she just did? After they had such a passionate night together? Had they both desired to do this? In her case, no! She had never thought of such a thing until it happened, but even then what compelled her to want to do such an act with him in the moment? Was it just lust? It must be, but what if it wasn't?
They weren't doing anything at the moment. Montgomery was sleeping, yet Aurelia hoped he wouldn't wake up and leave her. Or if he did wake up, she wanted them to whisper sweet nothings, or recount a dream he had about her. See his smile. Such romantic thoughts about a man she felt nothing but pure loathing towards. Or, used to, anyway.
Despicable! She hated this! Her chest burned with anguish at his touch. She wanted to see her dear Phillip, she had to tell him what happened. She couldn't keep such a giant secret, especially from him. She couldn't be alone with such thoughts anymore.
Aurelia carefully got out from underneath Montgomery, and sat up in the bed. She looked down at him, and found herself getting distracted. He was beautiful. So calm and peaceful in his sleep. Probably because after this he'd have the privilege of having nothing to worry about the next day. She did though. She always did, and she was envious of him. She shook her head and got out of bed, adjusting her nightdress before opening the door. She stepped out into the dark hallway.
The torches burned low, dimly lighting the walls with green. Aurelia's shadow warped along with her as she walked by. It felt ominous, like there were more figures than her own ushering her to take shelter. This caused her to walk faster to Phillips's room, and was relieved when she got to it. She gently knocked on the door. "Phillip? Are you awake?"
BANG! Something hit the floor in Phillip's room, but it didn't sound like an object. It sounded like a body, a person! Aurelia jumped, what in the world?! Frantic footsteps scrambled inside, and a window was heard opening and slamming shut. "Phillip?! What has happened??" She called out, knocking more prominently. Then, she heard someone directly on the other side. A creak was heard from the door, as if someone had pressed their body against it. "Hey Aurelia! It's me Phillip and I'm not doing anything at all no one was here and I was asleep what are you doing up so late??" He asked, his sentence a mess of rambles and filled with panic.
"Phillip! Are you in need of assistance?? Have you taken a fall?! Let me in!"Aurelia demanded, and she could almost hear him cower. "Uhm- do I.. have to-" "Phillip." She glared at the door and said his name forcefully, like she had thrown it against the wall. "Okay okay okay fine! But.. please, please don't freak out." Aurelia couldn't comprehend this sudden secrecy. What was he hiding?
The door creaked as Phillip slowly opened the door. Aurelia's already concerned expression morphed into one of pure surprise. She wasn't prepared for what she was seeing! The pointy ears, the prominent fangs, and, most concerning, the two puncture wounds on Phillip's neck. He was.. Egad! A vampire!
