Where it all starts for me is at school. I'm not going to rat my school out but it is sexist how sports there are set up. First of all there isn't Volleyball for boys there, and I know some boys who are really mad about that and honestly, I am too, it's not fair. When we play basketball there are basketballs for the girls and basketballs for the boys. The girls basketballs are lighter than the boys and I asked my gym teacher about it in front of all of the fifth and sixth graders. I asked why sports are segregated by gender, like why there's girls basketball and boys basketball and only girls volleyball. He said it's to make it safe and I got furious. How is it making it safe? It's not. He said it wouldn't be a fair game between a male senior and a female freshman because the male senior would win. And he said more girls would want to play volleyball than boys. To start out, how does your high school year effect how strong you are or how good you are at sports? And why did he say the male senior would win? Because he thinks because his sex is male and he's older that means he's stronger but that's not right. Also, in gym today we were doing bounce passes and chest passes in basketball and my teacher came over and said, "put more strength in it, I know your can, your the biggest girl is sixth grade." First of all I was trying my best, and second my height doesn't mean anything.everyone assumes I'm good for basketball and I'm really strong because I'm tall. And just to be clear, I'm not the only one who thinks my school is sexist, I know my friends Devyn and Emma agree and I'm sure there are others who agree. Let me know in the comments what you think and what I should discuss next. On this I'm not only writing about how sexist sports are, I'll write about different problems to protest against. Also let us know your stories we would love to hear/read them! Have a good day/morning/afternoon/night!
