“HELP!” The black-haired girl choked out, her voice barely rising above the crashing waves. Panic surged through her veins as she frantically waved her arms, searching for anything to grab onto. The river was icy and unforgiving, its cold grip pulling her down as she fought to stay afloat. Her breaths came in ragged gasps, each one a battle against the water that seemed determined to drag her under. Tears mingled with the river's relentless flow, blurring her vision as she struggled. Her legs kicked out frenetically, but there was nothing beneath her but the cold, unforgiving depths.
I can't breathe...! The frantic thoughts echoed in her mind, a terrified mantra as she struggled to keep her head above the water. Her chest burned with each ragged inhale, her lungs on the verge of collapse. She coughed and spluttered. Each gasp for air seemed to be met with another insidious pull downward, as if invisible hands were tugging at her ankles, dragging her further into the abyss. The world around her seemed to close in, the once vibrant greens and browns of the riverbank fading into a suffocating blue. Her arms grew heavy, her movements sluggish, as exhaustion began to overtake her.
Please! Someone... ANYONE! The plea echoed in her mind, a desperate cry that went unheard. The river's surface shimmered above her, tantalizingly close yet impossibly far. The world was a blur of blue, the water's cold embrace tightening around her.
Her movements slowed, her energy spent. She felt herself sinking, the surface light dimming as she drifted down. The color blue consumed her vision, a cold, suffocating blanket that grew darker and darker. Her lungs screamed for air, but only water answered, filling her chest with an unbearable weight.
Please... Save me...
Her thoughts were a whisper, the last flicker of her will fading. The vibrant blue faded to a haunting black as her eyelids fluttered shut, her final plea a whisper in the darkness.
I don't want to die...
In the silent, suffocating depths, her body surrendered to the water's embrace, the last remnants of her struggle vanishing into the abyss.

Earlier...
The sun hung low in the sky, casting golden hues across the riverside. Yurika sat on the wooden floor of a park pavilion, her back leaning against a post as she stared out at the quiet river below. She hugged her knees, resting her chin on them as her thoughts racing yet settling on nothing in particular. The lively chatter of families and couples enjoying the day felt distant, like a life she no longer belonged to. She had always been the one left behind, the one people forgot. There was a suffocating loneliness that wrapped around her, making everything feel gray and meaningless.
