Arlene's Pov
I was at the mall with my older sister Alexandra. I really wanted to go to Hot Topic for the new Orphan Black collection, but of course my sister had to stop at 10 stores first. "Which pair of shoes are cuter? The black ones or the nude ones? " Alexandra asked. "I don't know." She's been looking at those same two pairs of shoes for the last thirty minutes. I picked at my curls before I finally walked out to do my own thing. My sister was pretty, but we didn't really look alike. She's shorter than me so I always make fun of her. I guess I'm average looking. I have golden tawny colored skin with short dark brown hair, braces, and glasses. I can dress cute for the most part. I don't stand out, in fact im invisible next to my friends. I'm already super shy, so not a lot of people know me. I want to stand out and be cool. I'm always jealous over those people who can still be confident even with their insecurities. I walked into the Hot Topic. I loved this store because it had everything I was into. It bothers me when people call it that creepy goth store because it's more than that. I ran right to the stand with all the Orphan Black items were. It was amazing. The clothes were preppy pieces, but were really edgy like my personality . I grabbed a cream colored dress of the rack and turned toward the counter. SMACK "OW!!" I had fell RIGHT on top of someone. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to run into you. Gosh, why am I so clumsy." I rambled on. "It's okay. Accidents happen......hey it's you the girl from the dance lesson." I looked up shocked. "Yeah, my name is Arlene."I said. There he was standing there looking at me with those gorgeous eyes. His jawline game tho. Oh my gosh. I could cut my finger on that boy's jaw. That smile could kill. He was wearing black high top Vans, khaki cargo pants, a mexican flag Batman tee(it exists it's at Hot Topic ;) ) and a green beanie with a few loose hairs hanging in the front. I started to feel really embarrassed. I haven't spoken to him since the last time we saw each other. I was too nervous. I always say something stupid and ruin everything with a guy. Plus what I saw the last time we were together raised a few questions. "I haven't heard from you since the lesson." He said. "Ummm well see i... uh.. blah...hmm.." Come on Arlene get your fucking head out of the clouds. "It's okay. Do you want to go to the food court and sit and..uhh..talk" he asked. "Sure" We headed to the food court and ordered some amazing bacon cheeseburgers and fries. "I love stores like Hot Topic because I'm kinda a nerd. When I was little I was obsessed with superheroes and anime. I also love tv shows like Supernatural, The Walking dead, and Doctor Who." He said. "That's not nerdy. I think that's cool." I said. We talked and talked about art, music, family, aspirations, and school. We had so many common interests, so why did I still feel so insecure. He threw a french fry at me and it hit me in the nose. "Hey! What did I do to you?!" I yelled. "You never texted me or called." He said with a playful look on his face. I pretended to feed him fries, but stuffed them all in my mouth before he could get any. (That's what she said :) I'm so weird.) "You are really cute." He said out of the blue. "I don't think so. I think I'm pretty average." I replied. "That's because you don't see how beautifully you shine." He said staring at me longingly. I began to blush like crazy, when my phone rang. "Hello, I'm at the food court. I know.... okay don't fuss at me woman!" I quickly hung up the phone. "My sister is looking for me. I have to go." I said. I stood up and he wrapped his muscular arms around me. "Okay, but I'm not going to let you go until you promise me you'll text me later." He whispered into my ear. "Stop playing around I need to go." I said trying to slide from under his arms. "Not until you promise." He teased "Promise me." he whined with a fake pouty face. "Okay, fine I promise. " I said finally giving in. "You better." He said walking away. I better what? He can't tell me what to do. I ran quickly to meet my sister at the Forever 21. All I kept thinking about was his warm touch. Oh God, I forgot to ask him that important question about the cuts on his arms. I'll wait and do it later.
