Chapter #11 The Phone Call
I was lying on my inflatable inner tube in my pool when my phone rang. I took off my sunglasses and picked it up.
"Hmm. Thats weird. Unknown number?" I pressed the accept button and lifted it to my ear.
"Hello, this is Akiane Marsh. How are you today?" I asked in a cheery tone. But the voice that met me on the other side was anything BUT cheery.
"Akiane. You don't know me and never will, but I am saying this, you see Seth Turner one more time, and he won't be there the next time you look!" The mysterious caller hung up and I was sitting there frozen, with my mouth agape listening to the dial done.
O..................My................God...................What have I done? I snapped out of my daze when Kayden walked out the patio door carrying a try of slushies. I shrugged and took one from the tray. Might as well forget about it. I hate prank callers.
"Thanks Kayden." I said cheerily with a smile. Suddenly I realized that I was shaking. That was so weird. I got up and waded to the shallow end of the pool and went inside. "Mom! I'm not feeling to good and I feel skaky!" I called back the hallway.
She walked into the kitchen with a worried look on her face. "Are you sure that is all honey?" She asked. She put the back of her hand against my forehead.
"Yeah, Im sure." I said. But I was anything but sure. I was worried for Seth. What if they already did some thing to him? I did not even want to think about it!

"Love is here, it came to dry up all your tears, oh can you feel it, gotta be....." I accepted the phone call. Oh what a perfect ringtone for Seth. I laughed.
He greeted me cheerfuly. "Hey Akiane, wanna go out tonight? I know the perfect place. Its been a week and 2 dyas since our last date." I was about to accept when I remebered the phone call.
Oh come on Akiane. When Carol was drowning it was a prank. Surely that phone call was a prank. But......then I remembered something. But then she cried wolf and almost died. No. I cannot go out with Seth tonight. Should I tell him? I debated. Finnaly I answered my own question.
"I am really sorry Seth but I can't go out tonight. Maybe some other night." He seemed dissapointed but he said, "Okay thanks Akiane. See ya at school on Monday!" He hung up.
"Yeah. If I don't see you before then." I groaned and flopped backwards onto the couch. Just then mom came walking into the room.
"Are you alright honey? I heard you turn him down. Did something happen between you two?" She asked worriedly as she made her way over to the couch and sat down beside me on the little space that was left.
"No. I just......ok fine. If I tell you this, will you tell anyone? Or HIM for that matter?" I emphasized him.
She looked hesitant but then she agreed. "Ok. Fire away."
