It was Hell,
Fat drops of rain fell onto my face, soaked my hair.
The heavy thunder startled me every time it screamed.
They said the sky was grey, to me, it wasn't
To me...It was black
A fearless black
A never-ending black.
CHAPTER 1:
I could feel my inside sink, my knees too. So, I sat on the ground against the wall, letting it support me. I thought I knew what heartbreak felt like, I thought heartbreak was me, by myself at a famous café in the city. That was nothing.
This, this was heartbreak. The pain in your chest, the ache behind your eyes. The knowing that things will never be the same, it's all relative.
I stood by her grave, I've been standing here for a lifetime. The last moments of her life repeated themselves over and over in my mind. 'The body started slowly falling to the ground, I could feel the warmth of life getting stolen by the cold embrace of death, blood rushing out of her open wounds, she mumbled something I didn't hear'
-Liam
Janette rushed to open the door, I gave her a wink as our eyes met, she jumped and hugged me so tight I could feel her heartbeats in mine.
I felt guilty for a moment, I knew I was, but I brushed of the thought, and I awkwardly hugged her back. She took my hand, gave a huge wide smile and said "Dad, you came" I couldn't help but smile back. "Yes Jane, I made it"
She led me through the hall, her small hand wrapped around my finger. "Dad you should really check out my new room, it's all pink now, you know mom, she bought me a bunch of posters". I swore, I didn't want to be seen like this. I looked pitiful; and I was definitely not in the mood to get humiliated by Carla, she always looked down on me, she had the right to after all.
As we arrived at Jane's room upstairs, she told me to close my eyes, I did. I mean after all, isn't this what good dads are supposed to do?
"TA-DA"
I was truly surprised; I've never seen such a girly room. it was painted hot pink with so many of decorations. "Wow that's really beautiful, I like that poster there"
"Oh yea, that's Frozen, I had an Elsa themed party last month, you know, I was really down you bailed on me" Her words hit harder than a knife. I was about to open my mouth when I heard Carla's voice "Stacey, are you there?"
-Carla
I almost forgot that Liam was coming to take Janette out, I hated that. I heard her talking so he must've already arrived, I went upstairs to look for her only to find both in her room. Liam looked really startled by me, I was too. He has surely changed a lot, he looked tired, with dark eye bags and a gloomy look on his face, I almost felt sorry for him, almost.
Our gazes locked, I studied his ocean eyes, and he did, too. We were the same as we'd been for as long as I'd known him--as far as I could remember. He had truly messed up with the two people in this room.
Janette broke the silence "Hey mom, I was showing dad my new room, and he seems to love it"
"Oh, it's hardly new, you only repainted it"
"Well, it's new to him, isn't it? Oh and, can I please take my phone while I'm out? I and dad are spending the whole day together, I will definitely need to take pictures" I threw a glare at Liam, he turned away quickly. I knew him well to see guilt and regret behind him. "Yeah sure". Janette grinned and took Liam's hand "Dad, ill get dressed and we can go, wait for me downstairs, will you?"
