I wake up, nice and slow, stretching myself to the point where my bed is to short. That happens some times when your the tallest on if the group. I carefully get out of my bunk, as not to wake Wayne up, he sleeps right below me.
Tiptoeing carefully, I make my way into the common room of the bus. I walk over to the far left drawer and open it up, taking out my calendar.
I grab my red pen and mark yesterday off, another show done. I start to smile just a little bit when I count how many shows we have left. I just have to make it through 9 more shows, and then o can finally be home. Be home with my wife and my two-year old child. I'm pretty sure I can make it 9 more shows.
I go sit down on the couch and pull out my favourite book "Enders Game" and read it for probably the millionth time. It's just an escape to me.
I've been so caught up in my book, I don't even hear Wayne come into the common room to make some coffee. It isn't till he clears his throat a bit until I look up at him.
"How'd you sleep buddy?" He asks me silently, as to not wake up the others.
"Not great. I had another nightmare...."
"Come here."
I set my book down on the couch, and walk over to him, and he gives me giant hug.
"It'll be okay" he reassures me, "The tour is almost over, then we can go home."
"9 more shows" I say.
"Huh?"
I show him my calendar, and explain, "9 more shows and we're home."
He looks me in the eyes and hugs me again. I could barely make it out but it sounded like he said "I love you."
