You wander around the busy streets of New York, looking for someone who would help you. Your boyfriend had just broken your heart and kicked you out of your apartment. You didn’t have anywhere to stay. You figured that the streets of New York would have someone- anyone- that would help you or take you in.

“Hello?” You say, the crowd flowing past you. “Can anybody help me?”

No one seemed to notice you. You were like a tiny fish in the gigantic ocean. Everyone just walked by, pushing and shoving, yelling and screaming, no caring.

You found a seat on one of the benches in Central Park. You curled your legs up to your chest, hugging them. You then rested your head on your knees, starting to cry. Nobody cared. Nobody did, nobody ever would. you thought to yourself as tears rolled down your cheeks.

“Help...Anyone…” you whisper between pants.

Suddenly, a shadow appears over you. You slowly look up, tears still on your cheeks. The strong man tilted his baseball hat up, revealing his blonde hair and sweet, blue eyes. They looked at you, and you couldn’t help but cheer up slightly. You like the feel of this man’s eyes on you. No, you loved it.

“Ma’am?” He said in a somewhat low but sweet voice. “are you alright?”

“Uh..No...Not exactly..” You say. You sniffled and wiped your tears from your eyes.

“What’s your name, sir?” You ask, smiling a little knowing that you weren’t in fact invisible.

“Rogers. Steve Rogers.” He said, his lips curving into a small smile.

As he reached out his hand to help you up, you grabbed it and said, “Mine’s [Name] [Last Name].”

“Nice to meet you miss [Last Name]. want to get some Shawarma to talk and release all your problems?” Steve said, helping you up. Your lips curled into a smile as he did so.

“I would love that, Steve.” You respond starting to walk with him.

You end up getting to know Steve pretty well, just like he got to know you, even before you got to Shawarma.  Like the fact that he was a real, legit, gentleman. He pulled  the door open, pulled off his baseball cap, and was motioning for you to walk inside. You smiled at him and walked through the brown door. Spotting an empty booth, you drag Steve over to sit down. He seems to be okay with the fact that you dragged him by his shirt. You bit your lip and smiled, facing Steve.

“So, let’s talk. Why were you crying?” Steve asks.

“Well…” You start, tears welling up in your eyes, “My ex broke up with me and..”

“And?” Steve asked.

“Yea..he kicked me out of my apartment…”You say as the tears overflow and roll down your cheek as you bite your lip harder. Steve put a hand on your cheek and wiped the tears off of your cheek. You could easily see Steve’s cheeks turn red after he realized what he was doing. You soon noticed that your own cheeks were turning red. Even though you had just met Steve, you didn’t want this feeling to end.

“I’m sorry, [Name]..”Steve said, smiling, feeling embarrassed, “It felt like you needed this.”
