"Well, I think that's about all we have time for today. This was a really good session."You look up from your notes, putting your pen aside to look your patient in the eye. Setting your glasses on top of your head, you give them a sincere look as you say, "You've improved a lot since the first time we met, and I honestly mean that. I'm not just saying that because I'm your physical therapist."
Your patient laughs lightheartedly while gathering their things. You stand up to lead them out the door as they say, "Thank you for everything, Dr. Y/L/N. I promise I'll keep doing the exercises at home."
You smile as you walk them towards the lobby of the building, "Please do, because I know for a fact that those exercises are going to be what helps you the most. I'll see you next week."
As they leave, you wave them goodbye, signaling the end of the session.
Turning around to walk back towards your office, you check your watch. You have about an hour break until the meeting with your colleague, and by meeting, you mean bothering them during their break.
As you walk, you turn to watch nurses with their patients in the workout room, leading different exercises for each person. You smile to yourself when you see Akaashi, the colleague you're supposed to have a meeting with, leading someone towards the leg machines. You move your head before you see who his patient is, turning down another hallway.
Now in your office, you check your emails to make sure that you don't have an cancellations or add-ins before you head off to lunch.
—
By the time you're finished checking up on everything after eating, you look at your watch again. It's about five minutes before your meeting, but you head to his office anyway. He's your work best friend, so you doubt he'll care if you're a little early.
When you get to his door, you don't bother knocking, you never do. You don't even hesitate to turn the door knob when you walk in. This was the type of relationship that the both of you shared. Neither of you cared to knock considering that you've been friends since undergrad.
Walking into his office, you notice that he's not in there, which is a bit odd, considering his break was about to start. Instead of waiting for him, you make your way to the front desk.
Coming into the lobby, you say, "Hey, Kiyoko, would you mind telling me where Akaashi is? He's not in his office."
You watch her as she taps around on the desktop in front of her. After a few minutes, she says quietly, "He's in room 314. You should be fine to go in though. His appointment ended a few minutes ago. He's probably just cleaning everything up."
You grin, "Thanks."
With that, you walk away to find him.
-
Once you come upon room 314, you don't hesitate to walk in.
As you peek around the door, you immediately notice you should have actually knocked this time.
He still has a patient.
Mortified, you look at Akaashi and say, "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you had an appointment right now. Excuse me, I'll just be in my office when you're finished."
Akaashi opens his mouth, but his client beats him to the punch.
From beside you, you hear, "Nah, it's all good. We were just finishin' up anyway, weren't we?"
You turn to face the voice. Akaashi's client is a man in about his late twenties. Even sitting down, you can tell he's tall.
He's watching you with an interesting glint in his eyes as you look him over.
