"Please, take a seat." Niccolò said, pushing the leather chair backwards a bit so that I could we could sit down. He whispered something in Victoria's ear, and walked behind his desk to
sit down in front of us.

Two more men stood still behind him at the back of the room near the windows, they wore nice black suits with dark navy blue ties, another man sat on the couch to our left. I wondered who he was, and why he was different than the other men, and why did he get to sit on the couch to drink.

Maybe he was the head of security, but why would Niccolò need so much security around him at all times? How conceited, I thought.

"I am so grateful that we could come to a final agreement, Mr. Conti," Victoria finally spoke,  placing her hand on my arm, stroking it gently.
"You never replied to the letter I sent you, I was staring to worry that you've changed your mind." She continued in a sing songy way.

"I apologize if my response never got to you Mrs. Perez. I have been taking care of some business here in Monte Carlo, and as you might expect I needed time to think about your offer—" he paused for a moment, as his eyes flickered up at me with fire as a twisted smirk plastered on his chiseled face, "and come to the ultimate decision to buy
your daughter."

Buy me? Is this what Victoria meant by 'working' for some man?

My eyes must've gone wide from shock, "Buy me?" I repeated aloud this time, standing up from my chair, one of the men suddenly walked over to me, but Niccolò motioned to him with his hand to stop.

"Dani! Please take a seat." Victoria scolded, grabbing me by my arm to try to sit me back
down. "How could you behave like this in front
of Mr. Conti?" she glared at me with scolding
eyes. "My dearest apologies Niccolo, this was
more of a... surprise to my step-daughter."

"How long have you thought about doing this?" I looked at Victoria, with tears staring to form in my eyes, "How long have you been planing to do this
to me?"

"Please darling, we both know it's what's best
for you."

"You knew... you knew this would happen to my father didn't you? Is this your way of getting rid
of us? To get rid of him? To take his money?"

"Please don't bore Mr. Conti with our personal issues dear. He's here to do business, that's what we're here for, and you promised me that you would follow through with what I asked. You promised, for your fathers sake, remember darling, this is your only choice." She said to me, reminding me of our situation. I had no choice but to sit back down on the uncomfortable bouncy cushion chair.

Niccolò then stood up from his desk and walked over to the large built in bookshelf behind him, entering a combination on the safe inside a large cabinet.

He walked over to one of his men, "Conta tutto." He ordered one of them, handing him a small black suitcase.

After checking the money, they handed it back to Niccolò. "For you, Mrs. Perez." He said, holding up the black leather suitcase. Niccolò was never actually smiling, but for some reason, I felt a humorous tone escape his lips.
