I woke up to my dog laying on my leg. My leg is numb and I'm half awake, just great.

"Get up!" Someone screams into my room.

"Ughhhnn," I grumble in return.

"Jackson get up now!" It's mother yelling at me.

"Mm fine.." I grumble as I sit up, I shove the dog off.

"Rez, come." Mother called for the dog I just shoved off me.

"Yes get him out please." I groan as I get up, stumbling a bit as my leg had lost all feeling from Rez laying on it.

At school

A classmate walks up to me wearing a baggy shirt, jeans, and short, fluffy, bright red hair. "Hey Jack!" He called out for me. A few people look over at him and shrug it off as he walked towards me.

"Hey, Eli." I grin tiredly. "What's up?"

"Did you not get enough sleep again?" The goofy looking man frowned.

"Maybe." I let out a soft, tired but calm chuckle. "I found a cat yesterday." I smile, trying to change topics, knowing he'd want to hear about the cat.

"You did?" He broke out into his goofy grin. "Where? I want to see it!"

"I'll show you after school, ok?" I run my fingers through my hair, messing it up and pushing it infront of my face. "We have to get to class. I'll meet you outside the school."

"Ok! See ya!" Eli skipped off and laughed, looking like a complete child as he moved swiftly down the hall.

I grin to myself and start walking to my first class, yawning. I need more sleep. I huff and roll my eyes at myself.

-

My last class just ended and I walk down to my locker, quickly grabbing my things out of it. I slowly make my way down the hall after that, bumping into a few people by accident. "I'm sorry." I mumble as a few kids punch me in the side. "Ouch. I deserve that."

The kids laugh and yell, "Yeah you did!" In my ear.

"Don't have to make me go deaf." I walk away, rubbing my side gently.

-

Once I get outside and meet up with Eli, he's immediately worried.

"What happened?" He looks at my side, then my face.

"I got punched." I shrug it off. "That's all. Why?"

"Why so out of the blue?"

"I bumped into someone."

"Oh." His tone fades.

"Let's get going ok? I know you want to see that cat!" I grin.

"Ok!" He regains a happy tone and we walk to a small café.

"Behind here." I lead him into an alley that went behind the café. "If you want we can get a coffee after." I bend down next to a small box and click my tongue. A small litter of kittens and a mother crawl out of the box and into my lap, all tabbies and a few calicos.

"Aww!" Eli smiles and picks up a calico kitten, hugging it gently. "I'm taking them home."

"Uh, Eli, these are strays, they take alot of money to take care of."

"Only at first!" He laughs and smiles. "I'll get another job if I have to!"

"No, I'll help you."

"Ok, then!"

We both smile and pick up the kittens and their mother, bringing them to his house. "Where do we put them?" I ask softly in a baby like tone.

"In the spare bedroom. I'll make their little cave there." He says with a grin.

I smile in return and put the kittens on a soft blanket.
