A Long Journer

The Sleepover

When they arrived at the house,
Himiko dragged Kai into her bedroom.
It was a very light and airy room,
Kai thought it represented her very well.
Himiko grinned at Kai and sat him down on her bed.
She looked him up and down the walked over to her closet,
pulling out a pearl white toy makeup bag.
Prancing over to Kai she dropes the bag at his side.
"I'm gonna do your makeup."
She stated,
grinning at Kai's stunned expression.
"A-are you sure,
isn't that for girls?"
Kai mumbled.
"None sense!
My mommy says that boys can wear dresses and makeup if they want!!"
Himiko yelped with suprise.
Kai nodded with wide eyes at Himiko's sudden outburst.
"S-sorry I didn't mean to offend you.."
Kai stuttered and bowed his head a little.
Himiko smiled,
"It's okay Kai!"
Kai smiled at the blonde girl and allowed her to give him a light layer of makeup.
Honestly,
it was surprisingly good for a 4yr old.
Around half an hour later Himiko's mom called them down for dinner.
"Coming mom!!"
Himiko shouted down the stairs.
She took Kai's hand and led him downstairs to the kitchen.
Himiko's mother smiled at what her daughter did to the boy.
"Himiko don't tell me your already torturing your new friend!"
She breathed out sarcastically.
"I didn't do anything!"
Himiko stated matter-of-factly.
Kai giggled at the two girls and soon they were all laughing.
Himiko's mom brought the dinner to the table.
Kai was a bit nervous about eating in front of other people still as he had to take off his mask.
"Is something wrong Kai?"
Himiko questioned,
looking at Kai's worried expression.
"Y-yea, I just don't like taking off my mask.."
Kai mumbled
"Oh ok!!!"
Himiko said happily.
Kai smiled softly under his mask and waited for Himiko to finish her dinner so they could go upstairs.
Himiko chattered with her mom about how she bumped into Kai at the park and everything that happened after. Her mom obviously knew she was exaggerating on some parts but it was adorable to see her daughter so excited about her new friend.
"How about you Kai,
what was your day like before you met Himiko"
Himiko's mom said,
smiling kindly at the brunette.
"I-it was good,
I got some books from the library.."
Kai mumbled softly
"Do you like reading?"
"Mhm.."
"Don't you prefer to play outside?"
"No.."
"What's your favourite book"
"Poisened.."
That seemed to startle Himiko's mother.
"Isn't that a little.. violent?"
She mouthed the last part,
glancing at her daughter who was still chewing her chicken happily. Kai shrugged,
"My sister is ok with it"
Said softly.
Himiko's mom just shook her head,
then took her plate to the sink.
A few minutes later Himiko was done her dinner so her and Kai went upstairs to her room.
"What d'you wanna do"
Kai stammered,
a bit nervous after his talk with Himiko's mother.
"Wanna watch a movie??"
Himiko asked,
Kai nodded and she pulled a iPad out from her nightstand drawer.
"What one?"
"Maybe.. Beauty and The Beast?"
"OK!"
Kai smiled as Himiko searched up the popular movie on Disney+.
They sat on the bed together and Himiko leaned against Kai a little so he could see the movie better.
About 20 minutes before the movie ended Himiko's mom came in.
"Time to get ready for bed you two"
She said and Himiko whined
"Can we have a few more minutes mom!"
"No honey, it's time for bed"
"But the movie is almost over!"
"Bed time Himiko"
Himiko huffed and turned off her iPad.
"Fine we'll get ready for bed.."
"Good, night dearest I'll be coming back to check on you in 10 minutes"
Himiko stuck her tongue out at the door after her mom left.
"C'mon Himiko, may as well hurry so we don't get in trouble"
Kai whispered.
Himiko nodded and they both got out of bed to change.
Himiko changed into a soft pink night hoodie with matching shorts and Kai wore a large black hoodie and shorts.
They climbed back into Himiko's bed and talked for a bit until Himiko's mom came in and turned out the lights.
Kai smiled as Himiko's breathing slowly became more steady.
'She's much more peaceful when she sleeps' he thought,
before turning on his side and falling asleep.

The next morning,
Kai and Himiko were awoken to the smile of frying bacon.
Himiko hopped out of bed and Kai followed her down to the kitchen.
"When does your sister want you home by?"
Himiko's mom asked as Kai and Himiko sat down at the table.
"She said 11 if that's ok.."
Kai mumbled,
he yawned and Himiko stretched her arms out.
"Did you two have a good sleep?"
Himiko's mom asked,
"Yes Ms...."
"Toga"
"Yes Ms. Toga"
Ms. Toga smiled and placed three plates of bacon and eggs on the table.
Himiko immediately started munching on her bacon.
"You two will have just enough time to finish your movie before I have to drive Kai home"
"Ok mom!"
Ms. Toga bit into her eggs and smiled and her daughter.
Her and Himiko finished their food fairly quickly.
Kai took a couple extra minutes as he tried his best to eat without taking his mask off.
After he was finished they went upstairs to finish the movie.
Himiko grinned during the scene where Belle and the prince kissed and Kai just cringed.
When the movie was over Himiko helped Kai pack up his stuff and they went downstairs.
"Ready to go?"
Kai nodded and they went to the car.
Himiko and Kai chatted all the way back to his house and waved when he got out of the car.
"BYE KAI SEE YOU TOMORROW!!"
Himiko hollered out the open window. Kai smiled and waved,
watching as the car drove away. Sighing he walked back into the empty house and placed his bag on the floor. It was very quiet here.
He pulled out his phone,
headphones,
and his book then sat in his living room to read.

-low key forgot wattpad existed for awhile 😭-
