Creek… creek… creek…
Darkness
Alice woke up on the ground. She was sore all over and couldn’t seem to remember... anything.
Her name was Alice, she was a girl, and that’s all she remembered. Alice looked up at the thick forest trees above her. She, struggling to do so, slowly stood up and looked around. There was an oddly convenient path in front of her. It was overgrown and rough but, hey, a path is a path, right? She walked for awhile. A weird amount of time, it seemed. Or was it? She stopped. Had she been walking for five minutes or five hours? Oh well, might as well keep walking.
Creek… creek… creek…
What the hell was that? Alice began to walk faster.
Creek… creek… creek…
“No… stop…”
Whimpering? Why was there a girl whimpering and why did she sound so familiar? And why was it coming from her head!? The sounds grew louder and louder, she couldn’t take it anymore. She collapsed on the ground and clawed at her head, she had to get the noise to stop. She pounded her head on the ground. “SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!” Then it stopped. Alice opened her eyes and realized she was face down on a mattress. It was cold. “Where are my clothes?” Alice thought aloud. She tried to get up, but a rough hand suddenly pressed her back down. There was a sharp prick in her arm. A burning rush of liquid coursing through her veins. “Shh, go back to sleep now. You’ll get up when I say you can.”
Alice was falling down an endless hole. She landed on the ground and jumped to her feet, fully alert. She was back in the forest. Her head pounding, Alice started down the path again. She had to get out of the forest before the nosies started again. The trees parted and she was momentarily blinded by the sunlight. Alice saw something in the distance. She started to walk towards whatever it was, hoping to find water or something, anything. Her throat was killing her. As she walked, the shape started to take form. It was a… table? Set with tea and snacks, this was too good to be true, wasn’t it? “Screw it.” Alice decided and she flopped into a chair and grabbed some tea. “Well well well, just help yourself than!!” A scraggly old man raised from behind a chair at the other end of the table. “Have you forgotten your manners young lady?” He had a kindly face but there was an odd glint in his eyes. “Oh god, i’m so sorry” Alice exclaimed.
“Oh it’s quite alright darling, i’m just pulling your leg. This tea isn’t mine!! Hahaha…” His laugh faded and he seemed to forget why he was there. “Umm… sir?” He didn’t respond. “Okay then…” Alice began to walk away. “Your just gonna walk away? How rude. Then again, what can ya expect from a little junkie ingrate?” Alice was taken aback. “Junkie!? What do you mean… I'm not a…” She was getting ready to run. “Oh please, who do you think you're kidding? LOOK AT YOUR ARMS!!! HAHAHA” She looked down at her arms and screamed. Holes. So many holes, her arms were riddled with needle holes. Why was this happening?!?
Creek… creek… creek…
Alice slowly opened her eyes. She was back on the mattress. It smelled like sweat, blood, and tears. She tried to stay quiet this time because she didn’t want to be injected with whatever it was again.
Creek… creek… creek…
The creaking… with a sudden rush of horror, she realized that someone was on top of her. Abandoning a reason, Alice began to kick and scream. Anything to stop what was happening. All of the sounds started to make sense. The creaking and the whimpering… it was her!
In the middle of her fit, the man on top of her socked Alice in the face. Everything became fuzzy, she couldn't think but the next thing she knew, she was being beaten, seemingly without end. She tried to fight back, but he was to strong. “Stop struggling darling, or i’ll have to beat you harder.” The man threw alice to the ground and stuck her in the arm with another needle. The last thing Alice’s mind registered was the feeling of the cold floor on her bruised and beaten body. Then everything went black.
Back to the forest. Alice got up immediately and ran, tears stinging her cheeks. It was too much, running was the only thing that stopped the pain. She ran out of the forest and straight into the crazy old man. “Watch where you're going, darling. You could hurt someone…” His voice was all too familiar. Alice backed away slowly. “Fuck off, your not real, none of this is!” The old man looked sadly at her “Now now, darling, that’s not very nice now is it?” Not nice? Who the hell was he to tell her about being nice? She was fucking sick of it! All people could ever seem to say to her were things like “you should be nicer, frigid bitch.” and “your always so rude.” But did they ever ask Alice how she was doing? Did people think about the things she had been through? Fuck no, why would they. In that moment, something snapped in Alice and she threw herself at the old man. She let loose all of her anger and pain in a raging torrent. It felt good, ripping and tearing at the old man’s flesh. Over and over she beat and tore away at him. He struggled but nothing could stop Alice anymore. She blacked out momentarily but, when she came to, the first thing that crossed her mind was the taste of blood in her mouth. The warm thick liquid slid down her throat and deep down, she knew it was wrong, but she didn’t care, it tasted good. Alice sat naked atop the body of the man who had imprisoned her for so long, covered in his blood. *cough* He was still alive. Alice looked down at the man. She had torn out his juguler, blood was still gushing out. It looked delicious. She leaned in for another drink. How fulfilling. Warm and thick, not all that different from warm maple syrup. The blood seemed to taste better the more she drank. When she had her fill, Alice sat back up and looked the man in the eyes just in time to watch the last of the light leave them. She felt better now, knowing that he couldn’t hurt her or anyone else anymore. The rush was fading fast, her adrenaline had run out. Alice curled up on the ground and lay still for a long time. She thought for awhile. The pain wasn’t going to stop, was it? Well, there was one way to make it stop. Alice dragged herself off the floor and started her search. After a couple of minutes, she found what she was looking for, a box of the mystery syringes. Alice suck as many syringes as she could fit into her arm, then started to inject them one by one. It got easier as she continued. Her vision became blurry. Her head spun. Her body heaved, but she kept injecting. Anything to stop the pain. Alice couldn’t hold herself up anymore. She injected one more syringe and collapsed. Everything went black and the pain stopped
