That night, I couldn't sleep at all. "Creepy... Creepy," I kept muttering.
"What are you thinking about?" Lent sounded only half-concerned.
"No-nothing... Th-they won't come here, will they?"
"It's a shock. I need that Soother," Abscissa explained to Lent.
"It's almost over. And this was the last one in stock." Lent lent a hand.
"Can't help it. Give that here." Abscissa took the Soother from Lent's hands and poured it in through my mouth.
"Good night, Nile."
Everything fell into silence and I suddenly fell asleep.
The next morning when I woke up, I felt a little hyperactive. To feed that feeling, I read a bit about the SCO's history events in the SCO's Record of Events. The SCORE. It had a pixelated font, extremely hilarious. But the content in it was dark. I opened up to a random page.
"May 24, 3025
Max found a laboratory named 'Norse Labs'. He claimed to have found very important news about CMOD. But in that very clip he sent, his eyes suddenly glowed red and he fainted. We then suddenly permanently lost contact with him.
Name (Age): Max (32)
Status: Missing/Dead/Disordered"
Max... Abscissa was talking about this person, I thought.
"June 2, 3025
Jürgen and Rahal could not make it past the gate of Norse Labs. Their trackers were destroyed, and they lost contact with the SCO HQ. They most probably fell victim to CMOD.
Name (Age): Jürgen (34), Rahal (22)
Status: Missing/Dead/Disordered"
I opened another random page.
"September 27, 3025
The SCO elite search gang – Anais, Sayaka, Rolland, An, Suresh and Clara – was deployed yesterday for a search to find at least some of the lost and missing members of SCO. Unfortunately, they all simultaneously lost contact with SCO HQ and didn't return.
Name (Age): Anais (41), Sayaka (22), Rolland (32), An (30), Suresh (38), Clara (22)
Status: Missing/Dead/Disordered
((P.S. Nile (25) has been hospitalized as per plan. But plan has been aborted.))"
"Oh! You're up. What are you reading?" Abscissa spoke suddenly, startling me.
"Oh, nothing, just..."
"... That's SCORE, isn't it? You read the SCORE?" she asked with a serious look on her face.
Slightly scared, I lied, "No, no I didn't really read it yet!"
"Huh! That's good. Don't. That would make you terribly unstable mentally."
"U-unstable? What do you mean unstable?"
