Arabella's Point of View

"Running from my past, I'm praying feet don't fail me now," - _The Drug in me is You_, Falling in Reverse.

                                      ***Chapter Four***

Stephen and I were walking to the Coach(TM) Store because, he insisted on buying me an "I'm sorry for killing your dad, then flirting with you purse. I spat at the ground, It was nearing Midnight and I was cranky, Stephen is really getting me mad. All of a sudden, I heard the shrill scream of a boy, unusually it came from the sky. I couldn't put my finger on where i'd heard that vocal pattern before. I shot Stephen a look that was supposed to be "Game plan?" But he mistook it for a look of accusation, and he slowly raised his hands in the air, indicating it wasn't him. He purred, "Arabella, it wasn't me," _Really? Now is the time to use, yet another, charm spell on me!_ I ignored the disgusted part of me that wanted to put a wooden stake through his heart, and mouthed: "Not what I meant." I motioned upward with my head, at first he didn't understand why I was mouthing. He raised one eyebrow as I clarified, "Look up, very slowly." He complied as he averted his gaze in a slow upward action, similar to that of someone slowly rolling their eyes. He scowled at the scene above our heads.

On the roof of the Coach(TM) Store, was a scene that chilled me. My little sister, Adeline, was battling a Male Angel. Twice her size. He had to be at least 21. I took in the frightening scene as fast as my mind could race through my options. Stephen seemed to e doing the same.

The first thing I noticed was his height, easily the same height as Stephen who was tall, maybe even an inch taller. _Dang. He's a giant_ The next thing I noticed was the fact he wore no shirt, his pants were black and he wore combat boots. After this observation the rest was easy to take in. He had a six-pack of Abs, he was toned. It didn't phase me though, after all, Seth almost never wears a shirt. Why should he, scaling the cliffs all day... anyway that was off topic. I forced myself to focus. His wings were black. A dark angel. He had 3 inch Talons**. They looked as if they had recently been trimmed, based on the lack of blood. He had curly Blonde hair. _ Ew, I hate guys with Blonde hair,_ I quickly thought and refocused. His eyes were sea-green. with golden flecks of light, beaming off of them. His lips were full. The last thing I noticed, probably because I was a hypocrite(Only wearing a tank top myself.) He was wearing no Jacket and it was about to rain. _Stubborn Idiot!_ I know i'm not going to like this guy.

Stephen took a silent half-step towards me. When I didn't turn around, he lightly tapped my shoulder. I swung around as swiftly as my feet would take me, without losing my balance or letting my wings guide me, that is. 'What's your plan,' Stephen mouthed. I face palmed, literally. 'Duh! We help my sister,' I mouthed angrily. For a second hurt flashed in his eyes, or was it regret, I don't have to time to ponder it now. He nodded his head, as his eyes flashed crimson red. He was going to evolve into a full Vampire, _Fine by me, if he can keep himself under control_, I thought with a grim smile. I then allowed my wings to silently emerge from my backbones. As I slowly unfolded them, Stephen licked his lower lip. _Probably smelled the human blood in me,_ I thought. Then fear crept up me, what if he couldn't keep himself under control. I took a deep breath. There wasn't any time for self worrying, my sister was in danger. "On the count of three." I whispered under my breath, only a Vampire could hear what I just said.

  "One," I started the countdown.

  "Two," He muttered.

"Three," I said loudly this time, with a dangerous smile, and a flicker of joy in my eyes.

We moved so fast, the Male Angel couldn't have blocked us if he tried, Which he didn't. I took left. Stephen took right, and I saw Adeline, or Addie, smile. She was looking through a bag I must've missed in my surveillance of the scene. _WTF? She should be helping._ Then I saw it, the bag move and moan, "Ana?" The voice was so familiar, that I was temporarily shocked. Although I was only out of the game for a second, The Male angel (Francisco, I'd heard Addie call him,) Lunged at my side with his left Talon, leaving a cut from the middle of my stomach, on the left side, down to my mid-thigh.  I screamed as a wrack of pain seared through my body. I couldn't stop the sound from coming out. It hurt so badly. Angel Poisoning. I had little time to think about the mind-numbing pain before Adeline screamed something unintelligible to Stephen, or maybe I just couldn't understand it because of the poison's effects. I briefly realized that rain soaked my tank top, to a point wear my bra showed through the sheer fabric. I couldn't care less, considering I didn't even notice when it had started raining. My thoughts were screaming at me. I groaned as I felt someone pick me up bridal style, Stephen I think.

I was still in shock but, I still tried to choke out the one thing that my mind was taunted by the most, "Was..." Cough. "That-" I got cut off, Stephen appeared to be kissing me. Your kidding me, right? My first instinct was to push him away but...

 1) Okay, so maybe I wouldn't technically mind kissing him. It was taking my mind off the pain. And...

2) I wasn't in much of a position to pull away. Or in the condition to push him off.

Before I could dwell on the idea of kissing Stephen any longer, I felt it. Vampire magic. For the first time I was glad Stephen was using it on me. I almost wept with joy as the fire running up the left side of my body slowly eased away. I almost moaned from the sudden loss of pain. Then it hit me, I cringed as the memories and the dismal thoughts of what just happened raced through my mind, at lightning speed.  He pulled away. "Stephen... I-" I struggled to voice the words, no the plea coming out of my mouth. Yet Stephen had cut me off again. And where the He*l was Addie? "Shhh... Don't speak," Stephen breathed out gently, with a sadness creeping into his voice. I couldn't have finished the plea with him not to stop, if I had tried. I was blacking out. Yet I thought I was leaving this world in a sense of Serenity. "If I die, Seth might be safe," I filled my final thoughts, with false hope. Knowing that if I died, nothing could save Seth. Yet I smiled before I fell into the black abyss of my mind. The last thing I heard was: "No, not now Arabella. I love you," I was pretty sure it was Stephen. Or Seth. Nope definitely Stephen. Seth's probably dead by now anyway.

**Talon- Only Male angels have Talons. females have Magick, which will be explained in detail later in the book.
