The next day, Evelyn's parents decide to take her to the set of the movie they are filming. They know that Evelyn would enjoy being there, no matter how much she denies it and some of their co-workers bring children her age to set too, meaning that Evelyn can make some new friends and maybe reunite with some old friends too.
They get out of the car, Evelyn looking around, amazed. They are filming at a huge amusement park the size of a city with big roller coasters, ferris wheels, food stands; basically everything you can possibly imagine being in a theme park is at this place. "Woah," Evelyn gushes. "This place is ginormous!"
"Yes. Now sweetheart, we're gonna be filming over by that big roller coaster over there," her mother points to a wooden roller coaster at the very edge of the park, cameras already being set up. "I heard there's some girls your age over by the slingshot. You should go say hi."
"Okay, thanks mom."
"Meet us for lunch at the food court, alright?" her father says.
"Mhmm," Evelyn waves and then makes her way to the slingshot at the other side of the amusement park. It takes her 10 minutes, but she finally makes it, and spots some familiar faces from her childhood along with some new ones too. "Hey guys!"
"Evelyn!" Logan exclaims, pulling Evelyn in for a hug. She has long blonde hair with gorgeous hazel eyes. "It's been way too long!"
"Oh my god, Ev!" Annie, a short Asian girl with luscious black shiny hair flowing down her back says, charcoal eyes almost disappearing as she smiles. "We've missed you!"
"How long has it been? A year?" Evelyn says, hugging the girls. She turns to their three other friends. "Hi! I'm Evelyn Thomas."
"Yeah, we know. Logan and Annie always talk about you," a boy with dark, coffee coloured skin says. He has stunning light brown eyes with brown hair.
"Good things, I hope."
"Yes," he smiles. "I'm Eric."
"And I'm Camila," a tall Latina girl says. She has black hair with dark eyes, paired with a mesmerizing smile. "Nice to meet you."
"I'm Katherine," the last girl with brown, wavy hair says. Her face is literally perfect with plump lips and big brown eyes.
"Ooh, it's our turn!" Logan interrupts, jumping up and down excitedly. "C'mon Annie."
"Uhhh," Annie looks at the terrifying flinging ride in front of her and changes her mind. "Evelyn, you go," she pushes Evelyn next to Logan and the crew member scans her bracelet pass before she could protest. Logan drags her to the seats and sits down.
"C'mon Ev, it'll be fun," Logan pouts. "Please?"
"Fine," she gives in and reluctantly plops down in the seat next to Logan. The staff member straps them in, double checking that everything is secure, and goes to his control panel. The slingshot starts to sink into the ground. "Why am I doing this again?"
"Because you love me," Logan smiles. Evelyn rolls her eyes as a computer voice starts to count down.
"3."
"2."
"1."
The slingshot shoots up abruptly, Logan laughing while Evelyn screams like a lunatic. They do multiple flips and finally start to calm down, coming back to the ground. "Holy shit, that was horrible," Evelyn says, feeling like she is about to throw up.
"Let's do it again!"
"NO!" Evelyn exclaims as they reach the ground. She jumps out of the seat as soon as it unbuckles. "Remind me to never do that again," she mumbles to Annie, making Annie burst with laughter.
