The hot July sun ensured the people in Yarnfield that summer break was upon them. In just 2 weeks, pools will be filled and parties will be held.
Class 7B settled down in their seats to listen to Mr Harris, the form tutor. As the sun shone through the wide windows, Olivia Griffin stared at Mr Harris, pretending to listen to whatever speech he has prepared. As Mr Harris drones on about the summer break and how the class needs to be doing well, Olivia, and by the sound of notifications around the room, everyone's phone went off in a sequence of different ringtones. It was a picture. A picture with a body in the background. The body of Mark Griffin, the new kid. By the looks of it, he was dead. And everyone was gasping and shocked and the sight of another person, this one alive. They were wearing a mask, and brandished a knife. Below the picture was some text, in red bold font.
HEY YARNFIELD! WHOS NEXT ON THE KILL LIST?
SEE YA SOON MOTHERFUCKERS.
"Please can we refrain from using our phones for 2 minutes?" Mr Harris said amongst the gasps.
"Sir" said one girl. "Mark Griffins dead...someone murdered him." She started sobbing as the girl next to her spoke.
"He said who's next? Shouldn't we be scared or something?"
"I'm sure it's just a prank Melissa." Mr Harris said, reassuring the crying student as another went and showed him the picture.
He went silent. His eyes locked onto the photo.
"Everybody calm down! I'm sure the police are handling this right this minute"
Meanwhile, Olivia sat there, in shock. A tear rolled down her cheek as she realised who it was.
It was her brother. He'd only just got out of probation and started school.
"M-Mark." She muttered quietly.
"Yes Olivia?" Mr Harris questioned.
"He was my brother. Mark Griffin is my brother. Are you sure it's him Melissa?"
"It looks like him...i don't know for sure though" Melissa replied.
Mr Harris looked saddened.
"Olivia I'm so sorry. You may go home." He said.
The thing is, Olivia didn't want to go home. She wanted to find whoever killed her brother...and make sure he pays...painfully. Olivia got up from her seat ,grabbed her stuff and left. As she walked down the corridor, she sobbed, looking at the picture again and again and again. Her sobbing quickly turned to an evil look as she stared at the masked killer. She will find him. She knew she would. And she also knew that if she doesn't find them soon...a lot more people will die.She put her phone in her back pocket and walked out of the door, heading towards the sheriffs office with a vengeful look on her face.
