How it all started

Hi! My name is Anna. I'm 24 years old. I was born and raised in Motréal, Canada. I have three brothers: older brothers Jamie (27) and Travis (26), and a younger one Patrick (22). I love my family, but right now I'm living in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a law student and would like to be a judge or a lawyer. I love my best friend Jessica. We usually go out on Fridays. Her dad was a goalie, so she enjoys hockey a lot. We sometimes go to hockey games and have fun. My life was almost perfect untill last Friday....

Last Friday

It was 6.30pm when my phone rang. "Hey! Do you have any plans for tonight?" It was Jessica. "No. What do you have in mind?" I answered. "Well I was thinking about going to that Kings - Predators game. Are you joining me?" She sounded so happy, because she already knew the answer to that. "When?" I simply asked. "In an hour. I'll pick you up." I knew she was smiling. We talked for some time and then I needed to get myself ready. Truth be told, I was excited about that game. The teams were fighting for a place in the playoffs and after all, I was born in Montréal, the city where this madness started. I slowly got dressed. I chose a Shea Weber jersey, black skinny jeans and black Converse. I locked my apartment and got out of the building. Jessica was already waiting for me in her black Ford Focus. I got myself in the car. "Oh my God, you're actually on time!" She said sarcastically before we hugged and took off.

We were already standing in line, waiting for our tickets, when a bell rang. A man came near us. "Congratulations! You are the 140,000 people who bought tickets this season. Because of that, you have just won glass seats and a VIP ticket to meet with the team players after the game." Jessica and I just looked at eachother happily. On the inside I was freaking out. Glass tickets! VIP ticket! It was perfect!

We went inside and took our seats. Soon the warmups started. I looked at each player and they all looked very concentrated on the upcoming game. Soon, Kings, skated by and I couldn't help myself but moan at the sight of Anze Kopitar. For me, he was a perfect player. I was looking at him when he suddenly stopped in front of our seats. "Meet me?" He mouthed. I almost freaked out. I nodded quickly. Jessica didn't notice. She had her eyes on Muzzin. When I thought, it couldn't get any better, the Preds came onto the ice. They skated around for some time and I noticed Weber and waved at him, but that was until a pair of piercing blue eyes caught my sight. It was Pekka Rinne, a quiet Finnish goalie, and right now he was kind of smiling. Sure, I've heard about him and seen him before, but never payed much attention to his play. He looked at our place for sometime and then went back to warming up.

Soon the game started. The Kings were all over the place, fighting for the puck, and making nice passes. Unlucky, the passes were mostly to the Predators, who managed to get a goal past Jonathan Quick for 1-0 lead. Just a few minutes after that, Muzzin sent a slap shot past Rinne, and Jessica and I just freaked out. She freaked out because of Muzzin, and I freaked out because Pekka left one in. The second period ended with 3-2 lead for the Preds, which meant, that 3rd period would be a hell of a battle.

It all began with Doughty sending a wrist shot into the net. He wanted to celebrate but bumped into Weber and they started a fight. They were both sent off the ice, one with a broken nose, and one with a suspension for a game. The game was tied now and there were lots of fights, hits and penalties. After 60 minutes of play, there was no winner, so the game went in overtime. But the strengths were even, so it ended up in shootout.

Muzzin was shooting first, and he missed. Next was Riberio, and Quick made a save. Gaborik's shot just flew past Rinne into the net, but the Neal's also ended up behind Quick. It was a tie and everyone knew the final round will be game deciding. There was a mess on the bench so Cullen went first. Everyone was holding their breath but Quick made a huge stick save on the shot. Los Angeles fans went wild. And then the final player. It seemed that there was a huge mess on Kings' bench so everyone was surprised when Kopitar skated onto the ice. He took the puck, skated with full speed and then shot a spin-o-rama past Rinne. The crowd went wild. Anze Kopitar just scored a game winning goal, and a ticket for the playoffs.
We made our way towards the locker rooms.
