"Calm your mind. Focus only on your target. Make sure you are aiming right at the centre. Now, RELEASE!"
Shoo~As Olgar releases his finger, an arrow flew out from his bow. It flew with full of might, yet missing its target by a few inches.
"Arghh! Failed again." Olgar shouted with an angry expression, stomping the ground with his leg.
"Chill~ You are forcing yourself too much. Take it easy." Mirthal smiled to Olgar. "Your problem just now was wrong posture. Here, look at how i do it." Mirthal raised his bow and prepared to show Olgar the correct posture.
"It's enough, Mirthal. Let's call it a day." Olgar shaked his hand and stopped Mirthal. He walked straight to a rock and rested on it.
"What are you saying? There is no time to to slack off now. Are you giving up now? Think of how Durlan treated you. You must win the challenge." Even though he asked Olgar not to force himself too much, but it seems like he himself is the one who cared the most.
"Don't worry. It's just that i am too tired for today. I had been staring at that stupid target for 3 hours. Give me a break." Olgar gave Mirthal a puppy look, hoping he will agree to let him go.
"Eww. Don't give me that look. Pfft. Alright alright. We shall continue tomorrow." Mirthal put his hand on his waist, and said.
"Yeah! I knew it would work haha. Catch yoy later." Olgar hopped in joy, then running away immediately, as if he is scared that Mirthal might change his mind.
"Make sure you will be home by 7pm for dinner!" Mirthal shouted at the back.
"Alright!" Olgar answered without even turning his head.
Olgar ran across the village. His destination is the hill behind the village. It is the place where he can leave all his stress aside and be relaxed by enjoying the beautiful view of this village and the forest. It is also the only place where Olgar could feel that he ia almighty, powerful, and high above to look down on every other stuff.
After 30 minutes of running, Olgar finally reached the hill. He took a deep breath, as if he wants to take in all the fresh air here for himself. He sat on a rock, closed his eyes and trying to forget about all the stress accumulated. But when he thinks of the challenge, his eyebrows frowned.
"What happened, young boy? Why is that you are frowning even in such a beautiful place?" A voice of an old man appeared beside Olgar. Olgar opened his eyes immediately, and hopped to the side to protect himself.
"Who is this old man? I didn't even sense him coming near me. When is he beside me?" Olgar stared at the old man. The old man covered himself with a white coat and therefore causing Olgar not being able to see his face fully. But from the voice, Olgar could totally tell that he is very old. Yet he could still stand up very straight. He must be having some consistent exercise."Who are you?"Olgar asked carefully.
"Oh, my mistake, i am sorry. I am Smith Chantler from the neighbour village. I am here to have some business with your village. Now, may i know your name and your worries?" Smith gave olgar a pleasant smile.
"Olgar. Olgar Bloodworth." Olgar answered carefully. He did not tell Smith about his struggles as he is still not sure about Smith.
"Heheh, Olgar Bloodworth. Nice name. Now,even if you don't tell me, i know exactly what you struggles are. Being the only human among the elves sure is not easy, right?" Smith replied with that pleasant smile still on his face.
"What?" Olgar looked at Smith, with a confused look this time.
Smith did not say anything. He pulled down his hoodie of the coat. Olgar could not see the pointy ear of elf on his head but alike with his own. He is a human! This is a very shocking news to Olgar,as this is the first time he met another human in this region. Suddenly, Olgar felt that he could trust Smith, and spilled out all his struggles towards Smith.
"Hmm...interesting. Now, kid, have you ever wondered that the reason for you to be like a combat idiot, is as simple as being in the wrong field? You might not be talented in archery, hence having bad performance. But once you are in the right field that is destined for you, you will definitely shine! Now, if you are interested in trying something different, why don't you give me a chance to teach you?" Smith analysed and explain to Olgar.
"He is right! Why didn't i ever thought of that?" Olgar thought. His expression was as if he had a greatest discovery ever. "But am i really going to follow this old man? I don't really know him yet." Olgar thought again.
"Come on. Why not give it a try? You will never know the outcoming result if you don't try." Smith persuaded him.
"What is the time now?" Olgar asked suddenly. He must have remembered something important.
"It's twenty to seven now." Smith took out his pocket watch and said.
"Omaiguord! The dinner!" Shouted Olgar. "I gotta go now!"
"Well then, think about it." Smith said before Olgar leaving. "I will be here next week again. If you are interested, i will wait for you here at this time."
"Alright. Thank you. Good bye." After saying these, Olgar ran back home with his full speed.
Throughout the following week, Olgar's life was the same. School, tuition with Mirthal, and others. The only difference is that, he is always thinking of what Smith offered him.
During the day before one week comes to an end, Olgar was having his usual tuition with Mirthal. Shoo~another arrow missed its target. But suddenly, an arrow is shot from nowhere, and hitting Olgar's target right at the centre. Durlan walked out from the side. "Hahaha. After all these time, you have only improved that little? Your improvement is negligible. Just give up and wait for your humiliation after the test. Hahahahaha" after that, he waljed away, laughing. And suddenly, Olgar's eye is filled with determination and anger.
The next day, when Smith went to the hill, he found out that Olgar was there already.
"Hehe kid,you are early." Smith smiled towards Olgar.
Olgar looked at Smith, with the eye of determination. Images of Durlan's humiliation appeared in his mind again. He stood up and shouted:
"Mr.Smith, please let me be your student!"
