You lost interest in me
Like the minty punch of gum
Losing its flavor
And you are left with
Sticky nothingness

You spit me out
Like a cup of coffee
That was too sweet—
The roof of your mouth
Stinging from the sugar.

You discarded me
Like a sweater
That once wrapped you
In warmth — now left with rips,
Tears and large holes.

But still you kissed me,
Smooth my worries away
By brushing my hair
And teased me until I blush.

You played me
As if you were done
With a video game when
You won every time
And there is no more competition.

You erased me
Like you did when you hated
A feature of mine
On your sketchbook
Unsatisfied with the end result

Yet you still held my hand
You cupped my cheek
And lied to me making
Me believe everything was okay.
