Hay all 🥰, it's meeee Joy-san!!! This is so much fun to write in freestyle for a change, I hope at least some of u will get my humour😅🤣! So this "chapter" is written in the lightest and informative way possible. ❤ 
I wanted to share some thoughts about character development and sources. This is only for readers who are interested in the lore Kakuzu has as a character. And I'ma tell u guys, “Man, that is the definition of shallow”. 🥺😰😭

I will not "copy-paste" any wiki page, we all have free access to it. I want to talk about what is not clarified in the wiki pages. And bust some myths and misleading information in all of the wiki profiles and fans' popular myths about Kakuzu. 

I give u this content, not cuz I'm an amazing writer - God, no 😅. I write as an experienced reader, considering myself quite well-read, analyzing literature pieces like comics/manga is something that not only me but anyone can. And the deeper you dig into the Naruto universe, the more flat/shallow/poorly written characters you find. Not that flat characters are unneeded in a story/novel, on the contrary - they give depth to the world. Like there are other ppl in this world that we don't know and don't really want to know better. And I am not saying that Kishimoto is a bad writer (God bless this brilliant man 🙏) I'm just saying that Kakuzu had such a minor role in the series that Kishimoto never bothered to shape his character. 
Clearly, Kishimoto had not much sympathy for Kakuzu, he never even gave him a surname… no flashbacks, nothing… Unlike other fan-fave Akatsuki members who had a somewhat lore in the anime and manga, Kisame, Sasori, Deidara, Itachi, Konan, Nagato, Yahiko… hell, even Zetsu! The encounter with Kakuzu and Hidan was one of the least significant in the whole plotline… Kishimoto was like; They were strong, but they had no chance vs our mighty main characters!

Inconsistent 

Yes, you have read it right, his personality and looks are as inconsistent as me - in my period. 
Like many other supporting characters in novels/comics/manga/anime, my boi Kakuzu here was poorly developed… Not only that, his existence in the Naruto manga/anime was to represent Akatsuki as a bunch of insane, powerful, monster shinobi. His second role was to show us, the readers/audience, how intelligent Shikamaru is and how powerful is Naruto' Rasen-shuriken.
Starting from his appearance to his personality, all generated by Kishimoto - not at the same time (in the manga)! So the final results we see in the anime have a sudden burst of new features - exclusive to the anime. And believe me, guys I did my research, literally reread all the characters of the manga where he appeared and rewatched the anime (even found a copy of the Notebook).

Having said that, his looks are his most consistent feature. It seems that Kishimoto added detail at some point, to make him more distinct. (The information about his looks is labelled under trivia in the Narutopedia lol, im not copy-pasting is tho 😅.)
Now mind the fact that the manga came way before the anime, and by the time the anime reaches the Shippuden - Kakuzu already has a final design.
