Meanwhile, back at the police station, Amari, Jabari, and Tamara were being questioned about what happened at the hospital during the lockdown.
"After these questions, you can file a statement about the incident that way we can properly do our reports." An officer explained as they stood there listening.
"Then we're free to go?" Tamara asked curiously with a calm look on her face.
Tamara had gotten rid of that damaged uniform she used to disguise herself with at the hospital. Now, she was only wearing a medium sized, black tank-top with some small, skinny leg bottoms she had received from the officers at the police station since they had an extra spare of clothes laying around.
"Yes. Technically, we're not holding here, but it would be very helpful to our reports against the masked killer." The officer informed them even more.
"No problem. As long as we don't have to see her again." Amari stated calmly as she reached for the police statement on the desk.
"Hold on Amari, we need to know she's dead. Or at least locked away securely so she can't escape." Jabari said quickly as he positioned himself facing Amari.
"Oh, you two didn't know?" The officer questioned Tamara and Jabari.
"Know what?" They both responded as they glanced at the officer.
Amari just stood there quietly as she waited for the man to speak.
"The masked killer is your friend's sister. They're the only ones who were left in their family. Their parents have been dead for years." The officer explained casually.
There was a small moment of silence before anyone said anything. Tamara and Jabari both thought to themselves of what Amari was going through the entire time they were at the abandoned warehouse and the hospital.
"She tried to kill you. If I didn't stop her, you would be dead." Jabari reminded Amari softly.
"I know. I just don't want to see another part of my family die. Not again." Amari said anxiously.
"I get it. I wouldn't want to either... But she isn't your only family." Tamara told Amari.
Amari just stood there thinking about her friend's words. What else could she do? Thinking back on everything, it all happened so fast. Lexus, Chris, Spencer, and the others who died from the hands of the masked killer. All Amari could think about is a fresh, new start. A new life away from her hometown.
"You're right. After this, we need a fresh start." Amari said to her friends.
"Well, let's get this over with." Jabari insisted bravely.

A few minutes later, the police finished their statements with Amari, Jabari, and Tamara. They walked out of the station to get ready for their normal lives. After going through what they went through, nothing could be so normal so soon. Nine days until the masked killer's sentence would be carried out. None of them were surprised when the jury and judge threw out the death penalty on the case.
"I guess now that we're outta there, you two wanna come stay with me until the day comes?" Tamara asked Jabari & Amari curiously.
"Yeah, I think that would be good for us." Amari answered softly.
Jabari took longer to respond to Tamara's question. There was definitely something on his mind. Amari glanced over at Jabari to see what he'd say.
"We can do that. I just have to make a stop somewhere." He replied shortly after he noticed Amari and Tamara looking at him.
