July 15, 1989:
Lana's hands were shaking with fright.
"W-what are you going to do?" She stuttered.
The man just laughed.
"Lana, Lana, Lana. So scared. Yet, you act so rude. Before you were acting so rude. Telling me how I'm too creepy. Well, look who's creepy now!"
"Please don't hurt me!"
"Oh please! Don't act so scared now!"
Bang. Bang.
Gun shots. Two to her head.
July 15, 2005:
The mystery of Lana Brown still remains. No one knows who it was, why they did it, and where. Well, they know where. In the old abandoned park. It wasn't so abandoned before. The murder took place in 1989. On a warm summer night. Lana was headed to a party. The police think it was Josh. The quiet, creepy, who some people call him, kid. He doesn't have many friends at all. Lana was sixteen. Josh was seventeen. Josh was quiet. Lana thought she was popular. Lana's family was incredibly shocked. Her brother, who was in the military, was the most shocked. Even though him and Lana weren't close, he still cared about her. Her dad, however, wasn't that sad. Him and Lana weren't blood-related. He was Lana's step-dad. Her birth mom died from cervical cancer. Lana was the only one left. Her brother was killed in the war about a month before Lana was killed, her dad died from a stroke, and Lana, dying suddenly. But there's a catch: Josh and Lana were step-brother and sister. Josh didn't like Lana, and vice versa.
"Do we know who is a suspect in this murder?" Asked the police officer.
"No. But we are taking her step brother into questioning."
So later on, Josh and the police were at the police station getting ready for questioning.
"Josh, do you remember that night of Lana, your step sister's, murder?"
"No. Not at all." Josh was lying, and the police knew that.
"Josh, tell us the truth. We know you're lying." But Josh still wouldn't give in.
"I am telling the truth."
"No you're not. Tell us the truth. Just do it. The consequences will be the same, and if you keep lying, they'll just get worse." Josh sighs.
"I was doing my homework on the porch when Lana and her friends came up to me. They started calling me a geek, and creepy, and all that. I got so fed up, I scared her friends and I was trying to scare Lana by pulling out a gun. She dared me to pull the trigger. I said no because I knew i would go to jail. She just kept daring me, and when I pulled the gun out, she started acting scared. She was gonna call the cops, so I shot her."
The cops looked frightened. They never expected him to just blare out the truth just like that.
"Joshua Fletcher, you're being arrested for the murder of Lana Brown. Anything you do or say, will be held against you in the court of law."
So after about a week of prison, Josh was finally in court.
"Do you remember the night of July 15, 1989?"
"Yes sir. As if it were yesterday."
"Could you tell the jury what you remember that night?"
"I remember as if it were yesterday, as I pointed out. Lana and her friends were slightly drunk. I was doing my homework on the porch when Lana and her friends came up to me.
"Okay. You did realize that there was evidence showing your fingerprints everywhere on the gun, on a swing, etc.?"
"Yes sir. I walked to the park and was sitting on the swing after I got away from her. After I got fed up, I ran to the park. They came and found me and that's when I showed them the gun. Lana's friends, Delaney, Hayden, and Waverly, ran away as I approached Lana. Then she was pleading me to not kill her. She called me crazy a couple times and threatened to call the cops. I called her crazy and then she pulled her phone out. Then I shot her."
"Anything else? Her friends are here to testify against you."
"Good. Let them."
The cops took Josh to sit down, as Waverly came up to the stand.
"Could you please tell us what you remember the night of Lana Brown's murder?"
"I remember walking to the park and hearing her say how Josh was a geek, and how he doesn't have any friends and how he spends most of his time in his room. He just looked so angry with her. I kind of felt bad for him. I could see his anger and hatred toward her. It was really scary. Lana was slightly drunk that night and I know she probably didn't mean any of the things she said. We loved Lana, but I don't think anyone else did." She looked as if she was shaking.
"Thank you. Now, can we have Hayden Byrne come up to the stand please?"
"Please state your name for the court please?"
"My name is Hayden Primrose Byrnes, age 43, born in Wisconsin, 1972."
