CHAPTER ONE
CHASE

━━

(the same morning)

RENJUN sighed as he paced around the dock. He could hear seagulls in the air and the wind brushed against him harshly.

He wore his suit, his hands planting on his hips with his blazer flaring out from his elbows poking the material.

"Sorry! I'm here!" The younger man called out, running towards Renjun.

"Just tell me. Where is he?" Renjun asked coldly.

The migraine that pierced through his head made him clench his jaw tightly. It had him on edge since he woke up with it.

The young man handed a file of photos and Renjun took it, his eyes glancing at the tattooed 'S' on his wrist, which he had been staring at early in the morning. He thought it was ridiculous.

He couldn't believe he had gotten his soulmate and he couldn't even track the woman down. Renjun had seen her face.

His eye-lens saw her face but didn't pick it up. He clicked his tongue as his mind thought about it, neglecting the file of papers.

"I made that stupid thing and it couldn't even detect her face."

"Sorry sir?"

Renjun groaned, turning around as frustration built up inside him. He kicked the bucket that was stacked beside the railing and sighed harshly.

The young man flinched, standing still as his body shook in fear. Renjun glanced at the man and then back at the papers.

He didn't even have to look at the second page, taking the first page and humming.

"So the kid went hiding... at a ramen shop." He muttered, looking at the guy before him.

"I don't believe that."

The man nervously laughed and Renjun walked closer to him, his footsteps echoing. The man stuttered. "Please! It's... it's true!"

Renjun's sharp gaze watched the man's body language, prying for two long minutes and then stood back with a sigh. He ruffled his short hair, spikes gelled in different directions.

He walked towards the railing and leaned against it, watching the deep blue waves crash against each other. Foam of white sprawled into the pool of blue, bubbles appearing and popping.

He ran his tongue over his lips, pressing against the silver piercing. Taking a cigarette, Renjun balanced it between his lips and took his lighter out. It was a bad habit that his sister had only seen.

She told him to quit before his lungs "go bad" but of course, the man didn't listen. He pressed his thumb against the small igniter and after three tries, the flame seared against the cigarette.
