Moving began on the 12th of September and lifting the sofas was treacherous. All the boxes took forever to move and the place needed a thorough clean from dust and dirt. We slowly lifted one by one until it got to the beds, Aria, the removal man and I stared at it. Neither of us had bothered to take the bed apart so it was still in one peice, there was no way on earth we were getting that bed through the door but Aria insisted on trying anyway.

Steadily and at snail pace we nudged the bed out the van and began to use it outside. The weight was mainly on me as Aria was looking at the scenery. Suddenly she and the removal man turned as a bang sounded in the distance and the bed weight was left on me. My hand made a ferocious snapping sound as blood began to pour out of it, not a nice thought or experience, it looks like something from a horror movie but it didn't feel like a big deal.

When Ari turned back she started screaming and dropped to the ground like a fly, she'd never been good with blood. About five hours later after a trip to a and e, a really grumpy consultant, an X-ray and a plaster cast I was all mopped up apart from maybe the six months I was spending in cast. Aria had a slight chance of concussion but she was fine in the end.

After that the removal man banned us from carrying anything so we decided to go indoors and search for some matches after all it was freezing and the house had no radiators. Cobwebs clung to just about everything and the floors were covered in a thick dust carpet.

The previous owners hadn't really left us much, not even the rugs. A few mirrors still clung to the walls and some faded paint where pictures had been was featured in every room but apart from that the house was empty. "Found them" Aria shouted from upstairs, I ran up to find her at a midnight black stove containing about a decades worth of soot and ash which took a long time to clean out.

It took a few days to properly move in and get everything in the right place but in the end the house wasn't too bad, it's Victorian features complimented our ruined charity shop furniture so it looked less "found in the tip" and more "got it on free cycle". Over all I liked the house but I still had a lot of exploring to do!
