Chapter 13 - A Lost Mint

~FIGHTING, GORE, AND DEATH~

Greenmint's POV, in the forest

I was tasked by King Foreststorm to go find Lemonstream. He hasn't come back to the Castle for 3 days. I wonder if-.... no. Did he really go after Spring? She would have mauled home like a rabid bear, there's no way he'd be able to fight her alone. Oh please tell me she didn't kill him.... I stumbled over a fallen tree log, becoming increasingly worried as I got closer to the fields outside of the forest. I did not want to see a shredded white and yellow body...

I pushed the last few branches out of my way, and...

I had to blink to adjust to the sudden massive amount of light coming through, no tree shade to block the light. Woah! That's a huge, tall orange castle... or... erm. A hotel? Is that what Redmint called it? It's pretty. The sun hovered in the sky above the giant building, a huge shadow being casted behind the large hotel. Huge, strange colorful rocks with rounded tops were seen around as well, and huge trees lined the large plains. It's pretty, no wonder Spring wants to stay here with those little objects. Huh? Oh, and there's some of them now!

An orange object with a transparent top was talking to a white rectangular object who had red stripes and a blue stripe. But no Spring. Oh, there's a red and yellow one with a tall green one, and a tall brown one asking along with- wait. The red and green ones! Those are Spring's friends. Well... I assume she's friends with everyone here, but those are the two that... Redmint stole to try and sway her into joining the Kingdom... Hmpf.

But wait, over there! I see Spring, waaaay out there in the fields, and she's laying with.... Lemonstream? Carefully, I move my way through the trees, trying to get closer but without being seen by the objects near the hotel. Once I was a bit closer, I could confirm, that was Spring and she was laying with Lemonstream. A living Lemonstream, at that! Oh who am I kidding, Spring might have attacked Redmint and Foreststar, but Lemonstream is so sweet... How could she attack him? The sound of pawsteps behind me makes me spin around, only to sigh in relief.

"What are you doing out here, Redmint? I thought you had to talk to King Foreststorm"

Redmint smiled... but it seemed fake, "I did talk to him. Did you find Lemonstream yet?". I nodded, "He's out there with Spring". Redmint moved closer and looked out of the leaves. "Huh, surprised she didn't slaughter him" I nervously looked at Redmint. He still had a huge bare patch of skin on his neck where Spring had bitten him.... I'm still surprised that he survived. "She has almost killed me twice now. She is weak" Redmint snarled and then turned to me. I stared at him with worry. His eyes were dark, "You know, Foreststorm also tasked me with doing something". "And... and what is it?" My voice shook.

"Killing you"

Wh- WHAT

I stumbled backwards, "B-But... I'm your mate! Please! Don't do this... you don't have to listen to him.... I bet he was the one who made you kill two of our pups...". Redmint's eyes widened. Daisy and Rose faded in, gently floating beside me. I looked at both of them, shocked, but they kept their eyes on Redmint. But he kept his eyes locked on me, his amber eyes digging deep into my soul. His white eyes turned orange... realizing he was going enraged, I sprang backwards in absolute terror. "No no no! Redmint, please!" I begged for him to reconsider, but he let out a snarl and sprang for my throat. I just barely leapt over the top of him, my back paws brushing his ears. I landed with a thud behind him, kicking him with my back legs to get him off balance. Quickly, I tried to run, but Redmint swung around faster than I had expected him to, sinking his claws deep into my tail and stopping me from getting away from him.

"Fight me you PATHETIC Wolf Dragon!" Redmint snarled in my face, his saliva spattering on my nose, sizzling into steam within seconds. Tears were starting to well up in my eyes, but his were just filled with fire and rage. Redmint opened his mouth and prepared to bite down on his mate's throat, but I raised my front leg over my neck to defend myself. Redmint furiously bit down on my leg, making me cry out in pain. Blood dripped onto my chest, and my back legs kicked out in reaction. My claws scratched his belly as I heaved him off of me. Redmint landing against a tree with a loud grunt, he snarled furiously. As he struggled back to his paws, I stared at him with fury and sadness.

"Maybe I was better off being mates with Moonsplash" 

A single tear fell from my cheek.

Redmint furiously charged me, "HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT, HE MURDERED YOUR PARENTS, AND HE KILLED MY MOTHER!". He crashed into my chest, full force, teeth sunk deep into my throat. I let out a loud cry of agony, and suddenly, everything blurred and went dark....

"Thistleflower? Emberburst?"

Leaves fell gently from the trees as Fall began to land on the two Kingdoms. The two wolf dragons laid in the middle of the Camp, just out front of the Pine Kingdom Castle. Dark blood was very slowly pooling below the two of them. Greenmint stared at the dead bodies of her parents, tears immediately flowing from her eyes, burning her face terribly. The healer wolf was cleaning the bodies, but now he was shoving some herb in Greenmint's face, on her cheeks to stop the burns from getting to a dangerous level. Greenmint laid there, sobbing into the grass, as Redmint slowly walked up and sat beside her. No tears in his eyes, but his face was filled with sorrow and horror. He gently placed his tail over his mate's back, glancing back at Moonsplash, who was sitting by the Castle's wall. His eyes were dark... but had no readable emotion. Blackstone stood beside Moonsplash, nervously watching Greenmint, and shuddering from Redmint's eyes suddenly falling on him. Then Moonsplash turned to Blackstone...

"I killed them, Blackstone.... I'm so sorry"

Now it was the middle of winter. Greenmint laid in her nest, her tail wrapped around herself and her eggs, her nose being covered by her warm tail to protect it from the cold. Loud snarling sounded outside, making Greenmint lift her head up in shock. She was actually laying in the Castle Foyer, as Redmint said he was going to get some food for her, so she moved down there so he didn't have to walk so far into the Castle to find her. Very carefully, she got up from her nest, laying some moss over the eggs to keep them warm before she peeked outside the front door of the Castle. Her eyes widened in absolute horror. Moonsplash was on top of Hawkscratch, who was bleeding horribly. She was dead.... Moonsplash was suddenly yanked off the She Wolf by none other than King Owlwing himself. Moonsplash stood there, as a panting, blood soaked mess. He turned to me, absolute shock filled his eyes. "IM SORRY GREENMINT" he suddenly yelled, shoving Owlstar aside and sprinting out of the camp, into the trees. When Redmint got back from hunting that day... he wanted to tear Moonsplash's throat out....

"And later that day, he did it... He killed Moonsplash"

Dreamstar's voice suddenly echoed in my head. My vision was still blurry, and I realized I was back. I was laying in a puddle of my own blood. Slowly, I looked up at Redmint. His eyes were normal now, and he looked horrified. "Look what you've done..." I rasped, my voice broken from all the blood in my throat. "You're no better than Moonsplash.... but he actually loved me........"

"You never loved me, did you?....."

My head slowly fell.....

"I did love you.... and I still do...."

The last thing I saw was Redmint's blurry face suddenly turning to shock. He spun around, pelting through the trees. Then, I heard pawsteps behind me. As my vision faded, and all the sounds around me disappeared, I heard one loud sound... one loud voice.... Spring....

"GREENMINT!?!"

(Ending notes: A SHORT BUT REVEALING CHAPTER. Moonsplash killed Greenmint's parents, and Redmint's mother, but why? Why would he do such a thing? Isn't he a good boy? He's in Star Kingdom after all, how did he make it there? And REDMINT KILLED GREENMINT, WHAT A TWIST HEHE)
