Chapter 12

It was several days later that Hope woke up in Landon's arms. She  smiled a little before kissing him once she saw he was awake. "Morning" she said.

"Morning. I should probably get going soon. My foster family far from likes me, but I've also been out and about a lot" Landon told her

Hope sighed. "I wish you could just stay here all day"

"Believe me, I wish that were the answer" Landon said and kissed the top of her head before pulling away.

"I was thinking about testing again if you could be compelled. If not, then you're supernatural. And we can try to figure out what you are"

"Really?"

Hope nodded, reaching over and taking his hand. "And we could potentially end up going to the Salvatore school. If we find out what you are." She was hesitant about suggesting it but knew it was a good idea. "And then you wouldn't have to worry about Connor or foster families, and we can hang out and you get more involved in the supernatural world"

"I don't want you to have to move schools just to help me" Landon said

"It's not just you" Hope said. "It would be nice to be a little more myself"

He gave her a small smile and pressed his lips to hers before pulling away a bit. "I thought you had to keep your identity concealed."

"I do" she said, wrapping her arms around him and tugging him closer. "But I would still be able to do magic at least"

"Alright. As long as we are together" Landon said sincerely, placing a hand on her cheek and caressing it a little.

Then he brought his lips to hers, and she kissed him back, wanting nothing more than to enjoy time she spent with him. He  clung to her more tightly, knotting his hands in her hair, trying to tell her, with the  press of his mouth on hers, all the things he could not bring himself to say out loud. Though one in particular. That he had fallen in love with her.

The Salvatore school had been a bit of a mess after being attacked by a Gargoyle. All of the students now knew about the monster threats, and Alaric had determined that the monsters were just going to keep coming after the knife. Which was why he sent Dorian Williams off with the dagger. But then he found out from the sheriff, Matt Donovan, that there were two girls missing, Dana and her friend Sasha. Which was why the Saltzman twins, along with the rest of the students, were seated at an assembly where Alaric was standing with the sheriff. 

"Given our recent influx of monsters, Sheriff Donovan and I have decided we need to take drastic action. Please give him your full attention" Alaric announced and stepped to the side to let Matt Donovan speak. 

Matt Donovan stepped forward to the podium. "Like Dr. Saltzman was saying, local girls Dana Lilien and Sasha Stoteraux didn't come home last night. Dana sometimes skips town for a few days to party, but this is a first for Sasha." 

The picture of the two girls was being passed around as Alaric once again took the place in front of the podium.  "Thank you, Sheriff Donovan. Now while the knife is away with Dorian and things are quiet on his end, it won't hurt to assume the worst" Alaric knew how things could turn out in ways people didn't expect, so he wanted to consider all possibilities. Including the fact it could be a new monster in Mystic Falls. "Now, I'll need a few of you to volunteer to go to Mystic Falls High under the guise of an exchange program meant to improve relations between our schools, which, unfortunately, is necessary, given recent events. Now, I give you permission to compel them, to gather materials form locator spells, because any information we can get will make all the difference"
