The room was silent once the peculiar boy walked into the now full room, being late. The boy stood by the frame of the door examining the seats, figuring it out soon enough when he strides up the stairs at the back of the room. Every female population in this class has their eyes on the mysterious boy, raking his body and already Making a fool of themselves.I roll my eyes in annoyance, taking out my literature journal in the process. Girls get so excited whenever there is a new kid-- especially cute new boys-- that come to our school. They get crazy, deciding whether you're, "popular" or a "weeb". It's ridiculous how many people would choose your reputation by judging how the way you dress, act, and look. Jayden however, had no interest in the distributive boy as she continues to draw pointless doodles in her notebook.
Once the boy sat down everyone was already talking and already picking sides. The boy rolled his eyes in annoyance as he lays his head on his desk, having his arms cover his head like a child having a time out. I chuckle at the thought. I lay back into my seat further as the bulky teacher waddles in the the noisy classroom.
"Alrighty,"a middle age man waddles into the room and straight to his desk. With that, the man frantically fixes the files on his desk and neatly putting them into a pile, nearly tripping on his own two feet. The class laughs at his clumsiness, already harassing the poor man like a helpless injured bird.
He collects himself from is earlier embarrassment. He adjusted his tie, clearing his throat before continuing. "Hello. My name is Mr. Dowitt, and I will be your biology teacher for the rest of the year and I expect every single one of you to participate in our up coming lessons."
Everyone groans in disappointed, already disliking the enthusiasm coming from the teacher.
"I know, I know. You teenagers only think about partying, and who gets with who. But let me tell you, that everything in life doesn't revolves around those things. Life is full of mysterious things that we simply can't explain. It's bound to be explored by our species. Once we get a taste of that glory, we can't get enough of that plater. Just remember, don't dig into anything your not suppose to be digging into, as the saying goes; curiosity killed the cat." Mr. Dowitt snickers, pushing his glasses up.
Mr. Dowitt continues to explain the mystery of life and some how managing to bringing up the topic of the legendary big foot. I grew bored of the words coming from his mouth as I tune out what he was saying.
I look around the room for entertainment but to find Joey looking at me. He locks his grey eyes with my blue ones, giving me a smile and a small wave. Joey was the leader of the basketball team. Since he is known for his skill and his good looks, he was set in the "popular" group. I find quite odd that he interacted with me just now. The last time we talked was in 8th grade and that's when he asked me to the dance. I politely declined but I guess he took it the wrong way and we never talked since. I smile and I return the small gesture but froze when I feel another pair of eyes set of me. The eyes felt cold and determined. The atmosphere was thin as it was getting harder to breathe. The stare was burning at the side of my face making my skin crawl. In the corner of my eye I see a shadow in a shape of a man, behind the frame of the door. The frame of the man's muscular body was shaking, like it was scared? But the way he was standing, I don't think it was out of fear, it could only be anger.
Angry about what? My eyes drop down to the shiny object clenched in his large hands. The object looked long and metallic like with a charm at the end? I squinted my eyes to see a necklace. The necklace looked old, an item that looked like it could have been a family loom for years. He continued stared at me in anger. His eyes start to glow red as he puffs his chest, breathing heavily.
I glance over at Jayden, seeing her fast asleep with ear phones plugged, unaware of what's happening before my eyes.
When I looked back, the man that was standing at the door moments ago, was now standing right before me .His red eyes bore into my large ones, making me unable to move. Like a dark spell cast upon me, making me feel weak. He starts to grin evilly, as he moves closer. Only a few inches from our faces touching. The feeling of his cold breath on my face send shivers up and down my spin making the hairs on my back stand in horror. The husky man finally opens his mouth to say something that makes me confused on why he would say this.
"I've finally found you, Meredith," he says in a scratchy tone, as if he's been smoking for years. My heart accelerated when the man said a strange but familiar name. My breathing became rapid, unable to breath properly because of the close distance. He moved in closer, lowering his head. His breath fanned against my ear, the second time he repeated the action and then continued. "Next time you somewhat try to escape from my hold, someone's gonna have to clean up your bloody pool when I tear both of you're legs off." He says, with deep, skin crawling, laugh.
As if there was a weight lifted from my chest, I could finally control my body. I shut my eyes as if it would protect me from the monster right in front of me, hoping he won't do such damage. And the first thing I did was in instinct that any other person would haven done if they were in my position.
I screamed.
I let out all of my fear and terror out in one breath, the feeling that I have been violated in numerous ways. My lungs burn with the lack of oxygen due to my screeching. My lungs felt that they were being kicked around, leaving bruises in the after math and soon catching fire. I screamed and screamed until I couldn't breathe properly anymore. I open my teary eyes to find everyone in the classroom, all looking in my direction. The look of concern and annoyance was labeled on they're faces and it makes me realize that all what just happened. All that terror. All that fear, was from something I created in my mind. That horrific scene that just played before my eyes was simply just...a dream.
"Ms. Aguilar, are you all right?" A voice calls me back into reality.
I look up at him with wild eyes and whispered, "What?" The room was silent. The eerie sound roamed the thin air as Mr. Dowitt looks at me with concern, unable to calculate what just happened.
"I said, are you--"
"I-I'm fine." I interrupt the confuse man as I stand up to grab my things and shove them into my book bag .I take a glance over to Jayden to see her freaked out as she held her earphones in both hands. She gave me a "what the hell" look while I finish packing to leave. My heavy boots carry me to the door but to get stopped with a grip on my shoulder, refusing to let me leave.
"Where do you think your going, unlady?" The man snapped as I just looked at him through my teary eyes. He was angry. I could feel it, but I didn't give a rats ass right now. All I need to do is just leave. I feel all eyes on me as I turn to look at the boy from the halls, no emotion written on his face. I pull bad my attention back to Mr. Dowitt and roughly shove his hand off of my shoulder, leaving it hanging by his side.
I stormed out of the room without another word or a goodbye.
