Why did Bigwig have to send me off to my burrow as well as Bullrush? I did nothing wrong, She thought to herself. I mean he started it and- her thoughts were interrupted by the appearance of Rosehip. "Hello, Thorn." She said in her usual distant voice. She looked at Thorn for a second before saying, "You seem troubled." It wasn't so much a question as it was a statement. Thorn thought for a second, then answered, "Bullrush said I was weird.. and that I got special treatment."
"That's rather rude. Perhaps he is jealous. I don't believe that any rabbit would insult someone without a reason, no matter how unjustified that reason is. It is easier to hate, than it is to forgive." Rosehip said wisely. Thorn smiled at her sister. She had always been fond of Rosehip, even though at times she questioned just how far her wisdom went. "Thankyou, sister." She replied before leaving the burrow.
She made her way into The Honeycomb, and slowly approached Thistle, Dew, Birch and Daffodil. All of them shot her nervous glances as she neared, but did nothing to stop her from sitting down next to Thistle. After an awkward silence, Dew cleared his throat nervously and made an attempt to spark conversation. "Nice weather recently, ay?", He spoke up.
"Good as it can get. Has anyone seen Bullrush?", Daffodil asked.
"Why would you want to see him?", Thistle scoffed.
"I was just asking..", She said sulkily. Her pale gold fur was puffed up in hostility, gleaming in the golden light let in by the tunnels leading into The Honeycomb. Thistle's pale brownish-grey fur bristled, spiky and unkempt. Suddenly, Bullrush stalked grudgingly into the group, sitting down beside Daffodil. Thorn felt her own pelt stand on end, and shot a glares full of daggers at Bullrush. "So, you decided to show your ugly face, then, Bulltoad." She hissed. Bullrush met her gaze,"At least I'm not an abomination." He shot back with enough toxicity in his voice to poison an entire river. " So you want a fight, then?" She snarled.
"I'd love to, but I'm not sure daddy would like you fighting. You might get hurt." He sneered.
"And you might find a thorn in your nest!", She barked, rage overcoming her senses, washing out any self-control she had left. Leaping forward, she barrelled into Bullrush, knocking him off his feet and biting into his shoulder with sharp fangs. He gasped in pain, and struggled out of her grasp. However, seconds later, she had tripped him up. Bullrush fell down with a thud. She strode forward and placed a paw on his neck, crouching down to whisper into his ear.
"Shouldn't have stepped on a thorn, it will always come back to bite you."
