Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Hey guys! KR4TOS here with another fic. This time it's a Perzoë Oneshot for the Discord challenge peeps. It took a week of writing, along with three Mountain Dews, Two Red Bulls, Two Cokes and a cup and a half of coffee to bring this to you, so I would appreciate it if you favorite. Make sure to read the A/N at the bottom. Happy Reading!
This is Guardian Angel.
"Perseus," His mother calls. "For your help in overthrowing our father, we have decided to bestow upon you your domains and titles. " Zeus announces, continuing onward with "You shall be the god of darkness, shadows, family, heroes and heroic deeds. These domains require experience, which is why I also hereby declare you the Keeper of the Garden of the Hesperides and Guardian of the Golden Apples. That way I won't have to see your face again." The last part he whispers, but Perseus hears it clear as day. Choosing to ignore that comment, he gets on one knee and replies "I would be honored, my lord."
"Well, all the rewards and punishments have been given out now. It's time to PARTY!" A random immortal in the crowd shouts. Everyone is transported from the Throne Room to the main banquet hall on Olympus. Immediately Perseus feels himself being crushed in a bear hug by his mom, none other than the third daughter of Kronos herself, Hera. "My little boy has all grown up! " She says, crushing him harder. "Guardian of the Golden Apples? I know you'll make me proud, son. Maybe you will even catch the eye of a Hesperid." She suggests, letting go and wiggling her eyebrows.
"Mom! Don't embarrass me in front of everyone." Perseus groans, "I'm not a little boy anymore."
"I agree, son." His father, Hades, chimes in, "Your mother has an irritating habit of being rather... blunt." This results in a glare thrown at the Lord of the Dead, who then looks like one of his subjects. "What I meant to say is: when will I get grandchildren?" This is followed by a hum of approval from Perseus's other parent. The godling in question turned as golden as the apples he is supposed to protect.
Smiling at his discomfort and trying not to laugh, his parents quickly change the topic. "Anyways, habits and reproduction aside, your mother and I have something for you." And with that, Hades summons the most beautiful scythe his son has ever seen, giving it to him. It is even better than Thanatos's.
The blade and the pole were complete opposites. On the deadly end, a three foot long slightly curved blade rest. Being darker than the darkest black, it absorbs the entire mountain's light. The shaft, being eight feet long, is whiter than any marble statue in the divine city. Perseus is almost afraid to touch it, fearing that it will become dirty. Hades then goes on about its specifications, "I personally commissioned this for you. The blade is an alloy of Stygian Iron, Olympian Silver, and mortal Iron. It can cut through almost anything like butter."
His mother then continues, "It rests on eight feet of wood from the Grove of Dodona, although it does not talk, unfortunately. There are four layers of Olympian Silver coating it, blessed by me."
The Ruler of the Underworld then becomes giddy, shouting excitedly, "Now for my favorite feature! If you turn the blade like so," And he did, "it becomes a spear. How convenient! I actually don't know any practical use for it, it just looked cool when I saw it."
Perseus looks at the weapon in his hands, then at his mother and father. "I... I don't know what to say."
"A simple 'Thank You' would suffi-OW!" Hades yelps, holding his foot. "What is wrong with you, woman?"
