How do you start a story?
There's lots of ways to start a story I suppose. You could start a story in the middle of the day at 12.02 pm. You could start a story in the evening or in the morning. You could start a story by telling the tale of someone's life. Or you could start a story with an introduction, and this option seems like a good one to me.

But I am not going to describe my appearance. I am going to tell you about who I am on the inside by comparing myself to something I can relate to in many ways. By comparing myself in this way you can find out a lot more about me than you would from a description. My height, my weight, my eye colour, hair color, skin colour; they are not important, all that you need to know is that I see myself as a willow tree and that I am a willow tree for lots of reasons.

Willow trees are quietly beautiful, they sit, usually, on the banks of rivers, swaying with the wind and the soft invisible breezes that drift by. They are very much alive and very much observant, fitting in with surroundings comfortably. They have a vibe of cheeriness to them, of positive attitude and happy outlooks. However, they also have a graceful sadness to them, a fragile thoughtfulness, as though the tree itself is deep in thought. And they are naturally balanced between the two.

Willow trees are flexible, their branches dance in the wind, or swim in the shallows of a river or lake. Yet they still stand tall, and strong, rooted into the earth unswayed. Although my branches flow with the wind, and I let life take me where it will, I stand my ground as an independent being. I am flexible to the way of life, flexible to those around me but I am still myself and that is something I will not ever lose.

I love willow trees, always have and always will. I can connect to their soothing atmosphere and understand their very being. However, there are people who don't see any of this in a willow tree, they see a plain ordinary tree, they may not even know it is in fact a willow tree. And that, is the exact reason I am one.
