Surprisingly for Fred, the night started and continued quite calm and entertaining and he found himself even being comfortable. Lilith's grandmother was nothing as he imagined her to be — he knew the old lady was a pureblood but he had assumed, considering how her son and her daughter were, that she would be a snobby supremacist. Oh, and how wrong he was.
Eileen Prince was amusing, cunning and articulate, she seemed wise but also modernized to the new times and she definitely had a temper not afraid to be shown.
"I became a widow at 37 after my abusive husband had a little accident with his morning coffee," the woman said with a pleased smile and arched eyebrow that reminded Fred of her granddaughter, Lilith. "And I started working in the Muggle World at a Chemist's when Circe and Severus were almost teenagers, after a while, they started doing their own lives and I started doing mine. I don't regret anything," Eileen continued, having all of them captivating as she took out from her purse a pack of cigarettes, "but not stopping Tobias before — if I had done it, maybe my kids wouldn't be the pair of cunts they are nowadays."
Lilith snickered, as she watched her grandmother lightening her cigarette. She didn't say a word, Eileen was old enough to know what she was doing.
"They have her completely controlled," Lilith explained, "My mother barely lets her breathe."
Eileen clicked her tongue, taking another puff.
"Fucking bullshit," she protested, "She forbid me from smoking — as if I wanted to live more years under her bloody control!"
Fred couldn't help but chuckle while taking a little sip from his glass of wine and Eileen focused on him.
"Oh, you Weasleys, what a wonderful family," she cooed, funnily, "You can't believe how happy I am you are married to my Lilith — you must have so much fun. I still remember Septimus Weasley, what a good fuck he was! He had a huge-!"
Fred choked with his wine at hearing his grandfather's name and Pauline had to put her hand in front of her mouth to hide the laughter that was threatening to leave her lips.
"Grandma!" Lilith giggled, watching Fred coughing while trying not to laugh.
"I'm s-sorry," Fred said, trying to clear his throat, "I barely knew my grandfather so this is definitely something new."
"Well, it's about time for you to know it, my dear. Such an attribute needs to be acknowledged," Eileen replied, proudly.
"A'right, before my husband dies in front of all of us, wanna go to the living room and have a drink there?" Lilith offered, receiving a nod from all of them. While Lilith helped the elves to pick up the plates, Eileen guided Pauline to the living room while keenly listening to one of the French girl's stories and Fred felt the need to stop the Arambella girl when she tried to get his plate to retire it.
