"Can you put that shit down for once and focus?" Curtis spoke angrily toward Kofi. Kofi only rolled his eyes and grinned, continuing to take pics on his $1,000 camera— but he paused once the man spoke again, this time with true anger in his tone.
" Damn man, what is up with you? A camera bothering you that much?"
" I'm tryna talk business Kof...and that shit is a fucking distraction. So again, can you put that shit down? For once?"
Kofi sat the camera down, giving Curtis his full blown attention as he stood up in his spot.
" We haven't made too much progress like I thought we would've. This case...it's huge. If we do what we're suppose to do and do it right, this can take down nearly all of the drug outlets here in Louisiana and along the coast. Not only that, but we can solve other cold cases involved with this."
" Don't we have to take it slow with this type of case? If I recall, Chief gave us 10 months to a year." Bryant spoke. He was an associate and was apart of this case as well.
" He did, and you're right. We are suppose to take it slow with this case. We can't rush this process. But there are minor milestones that we have to achieve, and we haven't met them yet. It makes it harder on us if we don't meet them."
" So what's this talk for? What's the point? A lecture for encouragement?"
" The point of this talk is to get you to thinking about what you're doing wrong. Being that you guys are the canaries to this case, I need a lot more information coming my way. Give me the ingredients, so I can start cooking. You get what I mean?"
Kofi nodded his head, and so did Bryant. A couple of other guys barged into the basement the guys we hanging in, and everyone started to speak among themselves— but they did so with it all pertaining back to the drug case.
"Kofi, you heading out to the club tonight?"
" Hell yeah. I ain't missing out on a paycheck dawg." Kofi says, picking up his camera. "As a matter of fact, I need to head out now. It's going on 6."
The man headed for the door after getting his belongings, but was stopped by Curtis. "Aye man, keep doing what you're doing." Curtis says. "...Just keep playin' it smooth my guy."
"...and by the way, you need stop by the office this week. Chief's got to talk to you."
" Yeah, he texted me a few moments ago. " Kofi says. "But I got you."
