FIVE. LONESOME BREAKER
━━━━┅━━━┅━━━━
the purple haired giant blinked down at the girl in front of him.
his eyes narrowed slightly when he remembered their encounter yesterday but quickly shrugged it off. he wasn't one dwindle upon things that have happened already, he just moves forward— mainly because he could barely give two fucks about anything and everything. he thinks everything is just a waste of time and energy.
"boke." she instantly cussed him out.
her eye twitched as she wondered what sin she'd committed in her past life to have another encounter with this preposterous giant.
"would you stop calling me that?" the boy childishly whined. "i'm not a boke at all. i'm very smart, my ‘ka-chin says so."
she blinked at the overgrown baby. "your mother must be a boke too."
the boy had a tick mark on his forehead. "hey don't talk about my ‘ka-chin like that or i will crush you."
"not if i crush you first." the split-haired girl sighed in disinterest as she leaned against the bench once more, closing her eyes lazily.
murasakibara blinked at the girl before sitting down on the bench beside her. he'd been looking for his teammate himuro who told him to meet here in this place but he hasn't seen a single glimpse of the older boy. he decided that he would take a break and just eat the food he bought from one of the stalls here in this event. he'll worry about himuro afterwards.
she felt someone sit down next to her and she took a peek with her left eye. she held back an annoyed groan when she saw the same purple haired monster beside her. she closed her eyes again and hoped that he'd just disappear somehow.
"ne, chibi-chin.." murasakibara called out while he was chewing his maiubo.
she opened another eye and grumbled, "what?"
"what are you doing here?" he asked. "we're not allowed to participate in unofficial matches."
she blinked at him. "so?"
he gave her a side glance as he swallowed his food. "you're gonna get in trouble."
"so?" she scoffed. "and don't give me that crap. you're here too."
"i went here to tell my teammate that we're not allowed to play unofficial matches since he's participating in the games." he told her. "our coach only told me about the punishment today so he doesn't know yet."
she merely huffed, "it's your fault we got this punishment in the first place."
"don't blame it on me. it's your fault too ‘cos you shamed sweets. you're a disgrace to mankind." he shrugged lazily, opening another pack of maiubo.
"we each have our own preferences. i happen to despise sweets, and you have this weird obsession with them." she rolled her eyes.
she then looked at the amount of opened plastic wrappers in his grocery bag. "kami-sama, how many of those have you eaten?"
he blinked, looking at the bag. "oh.. twenty-six..? i don't know. i stopped counting after that."
the girl pursed her lips and looked away. the guy beside her was an idiot. "you're so unhealthy it's so disturbing."
"hey you do you, i do me.." the giant mumbled.
the girl looked him over and sighed. he was surprisingly coherent. she wonders if they could have possibly been on good terms yesterday had he been a bit kinder to her— also, if he didn't like that thing she despised so much.
"if you were a bit more like this yesterday we wouldn't have gotten punished." she clicked her tongue.
the boy looked up at her, maiubo in his mouth as he grumbled barely coherently. "if you weren't too snotty maybe we would have gotten along."
she rolled her eyes at him and looked away when a thought suddenly crossed her mind. she remembers her teammates referring to this guy as a part of a generation of something. she'd like to know what and why they got some kind of nickname that was enough for people like seirin or seiho to lug them alongside paradigm six.
"hey, are you any good at basketball?" she blinked, not looking at him and instead at the post-fall trees. " ‘cos you kinda look like a bench warmer to me."
and just like that, the normalcy they had for ten minutes crumbled into pieces.
murasakibara's eye twitched as he paused chowing down his maiubo. he didn't particularly like playing games as he thinks it's a waste of his time because he always wins anyway. however, this girl was getting on his nerves. he thought that she seemed kinda normal, like someone who had the same personality as him. but it appears as though she was straight up just a terrible person— well, he was bad too but he will never admit that to himself.
"one on one, you and me." he growled.
the girl let out a disinterested sigh. "nah~ i'll probably crush you way too early in the match, it won't even be enough to be called one."
his eye twitched and he was already outstretching his large hands to grab the girl's head when the announcer's voice cut him off mid-murder.
"shiku wins!"
the two titans simultaneously looked at the court where shiku versus seiho had just finished their game.
she stood up and slung a bag on her shoulder. she gave the annoyed titan a once-over. "well i guess we can conclude that you were probably the bench were of the generation of blah-blah, huh?"
she then turned away, "ja, well, i have a game now."
she then walked ahead to the opposite side of the plaza where the other court for her game was, not even letting the other giant get another word in.
his forehead ticked.
he was so going to crush her one day.
with that thought in mind, he made his way to the court where shiku, the apparent team of himuro was, to tell him about the punishment.
