A Challenge

Teagan's eyes alight with the challenge. After a long school day, full of tears, she's ready to kick someone's ass. "This'll be fun." She laughs, fire dancing and blazing to life around her, as chaotic, beautiful, and destructive as herself, and hurls a fireball at Inkwell's head.

Inkwell33: HOLY SHIT- *Inkwell narrowly avoids being hit, and unsheathes her claws, snarking, tail thrashing angrily behind her, snarling* God fucking dammit-

TEAGAN: "Oh!" Teagan grins wildly, her fire going out. "Wanna play like that!? ULTRA-FURRY MODE!! *she goes through miraculous transformation* She grins widely, flashing fangs, and she unsheathes her claws, too, her white tail billowing behind her, her ears flat against her head, and hisses a challenge, her blue eyes sparkling with fury.

INKWELL: W h a t t h e f u c k *the demon growls, low and glitchy* I’m going to wear your SPINE like a CROWN *she charges, ink dripping form her eyes*

TEAGAN: She nimbly dodges, but her tail gets caught in the shredding claws, and she screams, her tail a bloody stump, but then she performs a back-flip, landing behind the demon. "Surprise," she growls, nothing human in her eyes as she grins, and then brings her claws down on the demon's back, leaving lines of blood.

INKWELL: Inkwell let’s out an unholy, piercing shriek, ink dripping from her back, one eye quickly fading into the flesh of her face. She seems to be growing, her wings getting bigger and her feet shifting to look like hooves. There’s ink everywhere, dripping from her mouth, her wounds, her nose, and her eye. In fact, it’s like her very flesh itself is made of ink… Inkwell roundhouse kicks Teagan, another glitchy and broken screech escaping her lips. She attempts to regain balance, but she seems unsteady, with her body trying to redirect the energy that she doesn’t have to the transformation combined with blood loss. She’s running on pure adrenaline and demonic bloodlust.

TEAGAN: Teagan let's out a yelp, her head hitting the stone wall of the arena with a crack, sending a lightning bolt of pain through her skull. She staggers to her feet, and strikes out, but misses completely. Her vision is blurry, and she sees double. She shifts back into the fire-breathng bitch queen that she is, and then rushes at Inkwell, punching her, but it's not as forceful as she would've liked.

INKWELL: Inkwell sways, barely managing to catch herself and landing heavily on her left hoof. An inhuman snarl echoes throughout the arena, quickly fading into static (the demonic equivalent for speech when in a transformed or half-transformed state.) Her moves are limited. She doesn’t have enough energy to do a vault, and she can’t finish transforming, so she can’t charge in head-on without losing even more blood. She bears her teeth, rows of razor sharp canines gleaming and tinted gold with the ink dripping from her mouth. She quickly melts into a puddle, which begins slithering across the arena to Teagan, gaining more and more ink with every puddle of the demon’s strange blood it touches.

TEAGAN: Teagan let's out a cry, flinching back, that strange, dark blood reeking of death and despair, of places in the universe where even starlight cannot reach. Not right, her blood sang, her heart sang, her mind sang. Not right. She realized, with a bolt of fear, panicked and undilated, that she was never meant to win this fight. She has always assumed she had to be the best, had to be perfect, and she succeeded. Tears dripped down her cheeks, mingling with her blood. Except this time. This time, her body would be shredded and maimed, and then left to rot in this hellish place. The crowd jeered and cheered the demon on, and a frozen rage gripped her as bets were passed between them. She was never meant to win this fight. This wasn't an arena. It was her own butchering block.

TEAGAN: She turned to the reeking puddle, and held out a trembling, blood-stained hand. She said quietly, but not timidly, "We do not have to be pawns in their game. We are wild, and unrestrained. Do you not remember what it was like to be free? Swimming through your world, your world of darkness, and chaos ,of unrestrained, unabated darkness? You could go back to that world. You are NOT a monster, Inkwell, and that's what scares you. You want to be heartless, you want to mindless. But we cannot escape our own conscience." She stretches out a hand, her eyes pleading. "Do you really want this to be your legacy?" She gestures towards the crowd, eyes flashing with contempt. "An animal, in an arena?" She holds the demon's gaze, even as she trembles. "This is not what I choose." She lifts her chin. "I choose to pick my own destiny, to make my own life. I am not a pawn," she says, her eyes flaming. "I'm a Queen, and you are, too." Her hand is still outstretched, offering a hand towards death. She says quietly, "What do you choose?"

INKWELL: The ink stays still for a couple minutes, before people in the audience begin throwing things at the pair. After about one minute of this, a soda can clocks Teagan in the head. She winces, but doesn’t move. And slowly, there appears a hand from the ink. It’s clawed and dripping with the noxious golden liquid. It reaches, takes Teagan’s hand… Teagan is surprised ((am I allowed to write slightly for your character?)) to feel something small hugging her waist. Inkwell, in her crisis form (a form demons revert to when vulnerable, injured, or extremely tired) was clinging to her like she was the only glass of water in a desert. Inky tears stain Teagan’s shirt as the smaller one hugs her, shaking. Endless static can be heard throughout the arena, mixed in with quieter words, “library” and “family” and “months”.

TEAGAN: Being vunerable is not a weakness," she says quietly, and Inkwell flashes a small, haunted smile. "For a better world," she says.

"For a better world," Inkwell echoes, and raises her clawed hand, dripping with ink. They join hands, and raise them above their heads, silencing the crowds, even the wind seeming to pause to listen to what they have to say. "Listen!" She shouts, picking up her sword from the ground, it's blade stained dark by her ally's blood. "You pit us against each other, to spread disorder and chaos; to break our spirits, as blood-sister fights blood sister." She shoots a glance at Inkwell. "You cower in your palaces and cities, united against these people you claim to be your enemies; people who have bled and cried and perspired to get here, to these arenas, to win glory and fame for their kingdoms, but you laugh, because they slaughter their kin." SHe smiles, a wicked thing. "Well, then let us unite." She takes the blade, and she can feel everyone's eyes on her as she draws it across her palm, blood oozing from it. "Take the blood oath with me, World-walker, page-turner, and we can rattle the stars."

INKWELL: Inkwell brings her claw tip to her hand and slices it. She then grabs Teagan’s hand, and the two press their hands together.

TEAGAN: Their blood mingles, and she smiles at Inkwell. "Let's giving them a battle worthy of a song." THey move as one, a whirling mass of claws and teeth and flames, shredding through the guards like paper. They guarded each other's back, and she felt something deep in her soul, a wild song full of swords clashing and the screams of men. She grinned, laughing wildy as two guards rushed at her, and then fell down, dead before they hit the ground. The other prisoners cowered against the walls, hearing the screams and pleads, and then Teagan burnt through their shackles. "Come with us if you want to live. If you don't, then stay here. If you don't, then stick close to us, and defend yourself; by any means neccesary," she added. "Let's move!"

A/N: Yes, this was originally a comment battle. Tysm for the comments I got in that thread, I will put a link to Inkwell33's story. P.S. if you like fanfiction and fun stories, go follow her, she's hilarious, a promising writer, and a great friend. In case of confusion, I will confirm that yes, Inkwell and I did this together, and the parts that are labeled Inkwell she wrote, and the one's with Teagan in front of them I wrote. Please comment, vote, or challenge me in her story! https://www.wattpad.com/1137038691-comment-battles-star-fights-wattpad-classic/comment/1137038691_18369f95817c37084473aea462f042d3_1634613745_5678
