"You know, we haven't hung out in a while. I think the last time was..." I clear my throat and turn over on my blanket, still in my clothes from school. Randy gave me three new movies to watch- The Poltergeist (obviously), Child's Play, and Carrie. They have been added to my weekend plans, and I'm honestly excited to watch them."Yeah. We keep trying to schedule a time I can come to your house, but things keep getting in the way."
I hear a noise come from outside, and looking through my window I find nothing unusual.
"You can come over tonight if you want. We can work on the English together." Tate offers from her side of the phone. I stare at my street again before laying back down.
"You? Do homework? Ha."
Hearing the noise again, I sit up immediately. The tree outside my window is shaking, and I'm praying it's just a squirrel.
"I have to change my D to a C by next month some parents are actually strict Jane."
"That sucks, but sorry I got to go. I'll come over tomorrow."
I put my phone on its stand, and walk over to the window, pushing my purple curtains aside. I nearly scream when I see a face on the other side, my hand immediately slapping my face when the familiarity seeps in. Billy puts his finger up to his lips and motions for me to open the entry to my room.
I bite my lip in consideration, but ultimately deciding to let him in, I back up and push the window. I turn around and begin picking up clothes that have somehow managed to make their way onto my floor.
"Sorry about the mess, apparently there was a break in. Didn't steal anything, just kind of, threw...my stuff."
"Yikes. Not very considerate of them."
I laugh, running a hand through my hair hoping I'm not an absolute mess. "No, not at all."
Turning around to face him, I stuff my hands in the back of my jean's pockets.
"Can I sit?" He gestures to my pillow-scattered, unmade, light green bed. How embarrassing, jesus.
"Yeah, of course." My voice comes out higher than intended, and I clear my throat very quickly after.
Chill, Jane.
He jumps onto my bed, his arms behind his head, while I sit on my desk chair. I watch Billy as he looks around my room, starting at my posters- The Beatles 'Abbey Road' and The Breakfast Club- then to my record player and TV set, followed by my three, ceiling-high stacks of VHS tapes. My dresser is cluttered with frames of family photos and pictures of Tatum, Sidney, Stu, Me, and horrifyingly, some with him in it. His eyes then make his way to my desk where I sit across from my bed.
My cat, Depp, jumps onto my bed next to Billy. I panic for a second, hoping he isn't allergic like Stu.
"You're not allergic, right?"
He pets my black-striped kitty and shakes his head no. I nod, looking towards my closed door.
"You're room is nice. Cozy." Billy says as Depp starts to hiss at him. I gasp and stand, picking him up from the bed.
"Sorry, Depp is not really a people person, but thank you."
"You named your cat Depp?" He laughs a bit, and I follow suit.
"Yeah. I know. Let me remind you, I got him when I was the young age of 16. Now Nightmare had just come out and I had the biggest crush on Johnny Depp. Him in that crop top? My weakness. Anyways, I got this little guy around the time it was in theaters so, you know."
