The sound of sizzling could be heard as Benjamin hastily worked in the kitchen, preparing a delicious breakfast for his lover and himself. He softly hummed to himself, watching as the bacon cooked in the pan; it hissed aggressively.
Benjamin had already made pancakes and eggs, it honestly seemed like a lot, but he was sure the two could finish it. Pico sure did have a big apatite. He chuckled to himself softly.
" He's going to love this. "
Oh yeah, Pico was his boyfriend. The two had been together for quite some time now. What was it? Several years now? Yeah. They'd met back when they were in high school, in an alleyway. That spot had both good and bad memories, mainly the good ones. Benjamin smiled as he thought back to the times they spent there.
" .. We were so cutely stupid back then... "
Benji murmured to himself.
They were an odd bunch back then; the both of them were always a bit reserved in school. When they started talking, something seemed to click in the both of them, and they stuck. And here they were now. Thinking back, Benjamin was still surprised he was still here. Living and breathing. It was all thanks to Pico.
" Hey, B, I think you need to come and see this! "
A voice called for Benjamin. That was Pico.
Benji completely snapped out of his thoughts from the voice, eyes widening with the realization that he'd zoned out.
" Oh no, no, no, no! "
He panicked, swiftly turning off the stove, hoping the bacon wasn't all that burnt,
" One moment, Toughie! "
Toughie. That was one of his little nicknames that stayed with him and the other male for a long time. It all started when Pico had called him ' Softie. ' The only reason he'd started doing that was because Ben was always so soft-spoken, sensitive, and cowardly. He started to call Pico ' Toughie ' just to mock him, and well, look where that turned out.
" Aaaand there! "
Benjamin had set the bacon onto a clean plate, a small smile of satisfaction appeared on his face. He finished preparing breakfast. He took the plate and set it at the table. Now he had to see what his boyfriend wanted.
He turned, exiting the kitchen and making his way towards the living room. He and Pico only lived in an apartment, so it wasn't all that big. But it did well for now.
" What was it you wanted me to see? "
Benjamin questioned, eyeing the television. It was on the news station. On the screen were bold red letters that said,
VIRUS ON THE LOOSE, STAY INSIDE!
" Something about this weird virus created in a lab. " Pico paused for a moment, frowning, " They say one of their test subjects had gotten away and are now infecting people. Guess it turns them into this dark, creepy, and goopy creature or something. "
Great. Something to only make Benji feel nervous.
" A virus!? Do they not have some type of fix for this? "
He asked, seeming desperate.
" Nope, at least, not yet. They're advising us to board up all windows and doors and stay hidden. This looks extremely dangerous. "
" How does it spread..? "
" From a bite or scratch. "
" O-oh. "
Benjamin frowned. Why did this have to happen at a time like this? He slowly shook his head.
" Relax, Softie. We'll be okay. I'll keep us both safe. "
Pico looked over at his concerned boyfriend, giving him a reassuring smile.
" Y-yeah, okay, "
Ben believed Pico. He trusted him a lot,
" Can we worry about this after we eat? I-I'm done preparing breakfast anyway.. "
" Right. Let's be quick though, who knows how fast this whole virus thing will spread. "
Pico slowly got up from the couch, where he was sitting and watching the television. He approached Benjamin and gave him a small peck on the lips.
" Relax, 'kay? "
Benji nodded,
" Mhm... "
The two made their way to the kitchen and seated themselves at the table, preparing to eat.
I should talk to Grace about this later.
