Lighten Up!

NagisaXReader

Tapping away on your calculator, you focused on crunching the correct numbers. You were behind in math class because you had spent the past week sick with the flu. Math was always one of your more difficult subjects, and the thought of having to make up five assignments was enough to make you scream.
You compared your answer with the answer in the key your teacher had given you. You groaned in frustration as the numbers were completely off.

"I'm never going to get this done," you grumbled to yourself as you laid your head down on the table you were sitting at. After a few minutes of clearing your head, you sat up. The library was almost completely deserted, school had just let out and most kids were heading to their after school clubs.

'Damn it!' You thought to yourself. You were supposed to meet your best friend Nagisa at his locker and walk him to swim practice. You had forgotten to tell him that you were just going to stay in the library and work on your math until it was finished.

"(Y/N)- CHAN!" The blond boy burst through the door, panting. The few people left in the library didn't bother looking at him as he ran in your direction, dodging bookshelves and chairs on his way over. You couldn't help but laugh a little as Nagisa tripped just as he got to your table.

"Nagisa, you should really watch where you're going," you said, still laughing. You reach down and help him up, feeling the warmth of his hand send jolts through your body. You had developed a crush on Nagisa over the past month, but you were afraid to tell him in fear it might ruin your friendship.

"Where were you, (Y/N)-chan? I thought we were going to meet at my locker?" Nagisa pouted. You gestured to your unfinished math homework.

"I'm sorry, I'd forgotten to tell you that I had to stay at the library and make up the homework I missed last week," you said. Nagisa grabbed your graphing calculator, holding it above his head.

"C'mon, take a break! Come watch me at swim practice, it'll be fun!" He said, backing away.

"Nagisa, I can't," you said slowly. He then turned around and ran out of the library door. You darted after him, pleading for him to stop and give it back. Rounding the corners of your maze-like school, you notice he's going in the direction of the pool.

You suddenly change directions, deciding to take the short cut. You were running at top speed, but you could feel your lungs scream for air. You stopped running and tried to catch your breath.

"(Y/N)?" A gentle voice asks as you rest against a bank of lockers. You looked up to see Makoto, the third-year captain of the swim team. You sighed in relief, greatful it wasn't Nagisa.

"Is something wrong? Why are you so out of breath?" Makoto asked.

"Nagisa took my calculator and ran. I figured he would eventually lead me here, so I decided to beat him to it," you explained shyly.

"That definately sounds like Nagisa! Well, I should get to practice, good luck (Y/N)-chan," Makoto smiled one more time before walking down the hallway to catch up with Haru, another member of the team.

You decided to just wait for Nagisa at the pool, conversing with your friend, Kou. Giggling and gossiping about the boys you had seen at the swimming tournaments seemed to relax you. It almost made you completely forget why you had ended up at the pool in the first place.

"(Y/N)-Chaaaaaan!" You heard Nagisa call your name from inside the building. He opened the door and immediately ran to where you and Kou were standing.

"Why'd you do that?" You asked as you snatched your calculator out of your friend's hand. He smiled.

"Because you need to lighten up!" He laughed. You sighed, slightly frustrated.

"But I have to get my work done, Nagisa," you replied, trying not to lose your temper. Nagisa continued grinning as he began to stretch out his arms.

"You're still allowed to have a little fun, (Y/N). You're already here, why don't you watch practice?" He suggested, switching arms. You bit your lower lip, considering your options.

"Pleaseeee?" Nagisa and Kou begged. You gave up and nodded to your friends.

"Fine, I'll stay," you allowed yourself to smile. Kou squealed in delight and pulled your arm towards the pool where Rei, Makoto, and Haru were waiting to get in the pool.

After running back to the library to retrieve the rest of your things, you and Kou sat in chairs at the shallow end of the pool as Ama-Sensei talked to them about recruiting new members for next season since half the team will have graduated.

After practice, Nagisa came up to you with a towel around his shoulders.

"Hey (Y/N)- chan, do you want to come over? I can help you with math," Nagisa offered as you two made your way to the locker room.

"That would be great, thank you," you said, grinning. You waited in the hallway for Nagisa as he changed back into regular clothes. When he came out his blond hair was still wet, creating damp drops on his Iwotabi Returns tee-shirt. You felt your cheeks turn red, thinking about how cute he was.

"Ready to go?" He asked, holding out his hand. Your cheeks grew more red as you took it. The two of you walked down the the hallway and eventually off to his house.

When you arrive, Nagisa's mom waves at the two of you, delighted that you had come over.

"(Y/N)! I'm so glad you're feeling better! Nagisa was worried sick about you last week!" She said cheerfully.

"Wah! Mom, stop!" Nagisa whined as he set his backpack on the dining room table. You blushed at her comment and giggled quietly. His mom winked at you and then left the room to give you and Nagisa some space.

"You were worried about me, Nagisa-kun?" You teased him. He hid his face in his backpack, pretending to look for something important.

"Let's just get started," he said, changing the subject. The two of you sat and began to work. After about a half hour of math, you were finally done with one of your assignments. You checked your watch, realizing that you had stayed too long and that your mom was probably worried.

"Thanks for the help, Nagisa-kun. Unfortunately, I still have four more to go," you said as you packed up your stuff.

"You're welcome, (Y/N)-chan. I'd do anything to help you," he said with his trademark smile. He walked you to the door, carrying your backpack.

"Goodnight, Nagisa-kun," you said as he handed you your backpack. He pulled you in for hug.

"Goodnight, (Y/N)," he then leaned in and kissed your cheek, blushing furiously. You blushed too, grinning shyly.

"I-I'll text you later. Maybe we can go out together on Saturday. You know... L-like a date," he said. Your heart fluttered.

"I'd love that," was all you were able to get out without feeling like you could shout will joy. Nagisa grinned and waved before shutting the door.

"I can't wait," you whispered to yourself, mentally trying to decide what you were going to wear on your date with your crush and possibly new boyfriend.

A/N: Well that was my first one-shot, tell me what you think. Nagisa is so adorable <3
