Chapter 9

It must have been at least an hour or two later when Kaycee heard her phone ringing from inside her car. There was a pounding in her head as she opened her eyes and tried to blink away the dizziness, groaning Kaycee sat up in the backseat and then reached for her phone only to see Timothy's name flashing across her screen.

"Hello." Kaycee answered as she leaned back into the seat and folded her legs underneath her.

"Hey, did I wake you?" Timothy's voice came through from the other side as Kaycee played with the ends of her sweater.

"No, what's up?" She asked.

"You owe me a date." Timothy said and Kaycee blinked in confusion.

"Huh?"

"You promised we'd have dinner together at that new restaurant once you were free, you owe me a date Kaycee." Timothy said teasingly and Kaycee tilted her head so she was looking out the window from inside her car.

"Now is really not a good time." Kaycee said quietly her eyes following the cars that zoomed past hers on the highway.

"That's what you say all the time. I'm almost there, I'll send you the address if you don't come I'll take it that you're avoiding me." Timothy said and without waiting for her response he hung up the phone. Pulling the phone away from her ear Kaycee continued to stare out the window with her head leaned back until she sighed and got back behind the steering wheel.

Following the address that Timothy had sent Kaycee arrived at the restaurant ten minutes later and then got out of her after finding an appropriate parking spot. From outside she could already see Timothy seated in one of the seats by the window and after taking in a deep breath Kaycee walked into the restaurant.

"Timothy." Kaycee called out as she reached the table and Timothy turned then stood up with a smile when he saw her.

"You're here." He said and then pulled out her seat for her helping Kaycee to her seat before taking his seat as well. "I thought you weren't going to come." Timothy admitted placing his elbows on the table.

"You said to come." Kaycee stated monotonously and Timothy smiled again.

"I did, didn't I? By the way, you got here quick."

"I was out on an errand." Kaycee said as one of the waiters brought their menus and then left for them to make their decision. As she scanned the menu looking for something suitable to eat Kaycee heard the sound of boots approaching and they stopped right next to their table and Kaycee looked up only to find Archer smiling down at her.

"Well, this is a surprise." Archer said hands tucked into the pocket of his jacket as he looked from Kaycee to Timothy who was now sporting a frown on his face. Behind him, Archer dragged one of the chairs over to their table and then settled down on it.

"What are you doing here?" Timothy asked setting his menu down on the table as he tried to contain his annoyance.

"I was walking by when I spotted you both from the window, I thought I should say hi." Archer said nonchalantly as he shrugged.

"You should have kept walking." Timothy said and Archer smiled leaning closer.

"Why, are you two on a date?" Archer asked and then looked to Kaycee for an answer but neither of them gave an answer. "If not I don't see why we can't have dinner together, I haven't eaten all day." Archer said and then picked up Timothy's discarded menu.
