8:45 am.

ʟᴀᴛᴇ. first day at a new school and already abby was late, her failed attempt an early start to the day had put a dampened mood on her late morning, knowing she was going to be more than late to school which happened to start in 5 minutes.

"kayla, get your ass up!" abby shouted as she walked down the corridor, hastily speeding to the bathroom where she had her daily wash, patting her face dry she sped back up the corridor she walked on only 2 minutes ago, seeing kayla, her younger sister by 2 years, still in bed.

"oi!" abby shouted as she walked further into the room, still unresponsive, abby grabbed the glass of water beside on her bed side table and threw the cold liquid on her face, making kayla rise like a zombie out of a grave.

"what the fuck was that for?" kayla complained in shock, her arms up by her sides as she endured the coldness seeping through her clothes and soaking her bed.

"had to make sure you wasn't dead" abby shrugged before heading to walk out of the room, "get ready, we're late".

abby made it back to her room, yanking her school uniform on, pulling her blazer on roughly, adjusting her tie and rolling her skirt high, then taking a seat at her dresser.

pulling out an eyeliner pencil, she quickly drew the blackness across her waterline, making her brown eyes pop with colour. mascara was quickly added and lipgloss. jumping off her chair as if it was on fire, she slipped her shoes on and slung her backpack on.

"kayla you better be ready" abby warned as she began walking down the corridor to her room.

"chill, i was born ready" kayla sarcastically smiled before walking past her older sister and to the door, abby following. as she shut the door behind her, she questioned; how was she going to get to school in the remaining 3 minutes.

------------------------------

20 minutes later, the two garcia sister's did not infact make it to school on time, surprise, surprise.

they both walked up to the main desk, signing in, their excuses for being late was quite simple; they slept in.

"head straight to assembly girls" the short pink haired woman behind the clear plastic window explained at reception, typing things in on her computer.

"c'mon" abby said, dragging her sister to the main hall.

as the two entered, all eyes turned to them, including the headteacher's who was currently making a speech infront of a mic.

"sit over there" abby said to her younger sister, nodding her head over to a spare seat on one of the rows, abby then taking another spare seat on the opposite side of the room.

abby looked at the boy she was sat next to, brown hair, brown eyes, loose tie, slugish posture. abby had a feeling she was going to know this boy in a little more detail shorty by the way he was looking at her, eyes full of interest and heed.

"you new 'round here?" he whispered to the brunette, not wanting to alert any staff.

"this school, yes, this area, no" abby replied, using the same whisper voice.

"what's your name?" he asks, looking down at the girl sat beside him.

"abby" she replied, then looking up at the boy, "what's yours?"

"cory" he replys with a smug smirk. abby could see where this could potentially go, she didnt know if she liked it or hated it.

silence took over the two for a few minutes, that was until cory shout whispered something to another lad sat a few rows infront, he had a proud smile written across his face as if he'd accomplished something.

"oi, what you smiling at" cory warned the boy wearing a green hoodie under his blazer. this caused abby to turn in his direction, seeing the grinning boy who simply looked away.

"who's he?" abby asked, not taking her eyes off the younger lad.

"my brother" cory hesitated before saying, he seemed embarrassed.

abby didn't reply, she had to drag her eyes away to look at the front, she realised she was staring at the boy out of interest, she was new to this school, she was interested in how some of the young minds worked while being here.

the bell rang, signalling the assembly was over and it was time for period one.

just as everyone was leaving, abby and others were introduced to a large rascist banner, insulting asians and white girls, which made them all charge after the laughing boy who seemed to enjoy the chase.

"you'll be laughing on the other side of your face when you get in there" the pink haired woman from earlier argued with the boy, dragging him inside away from the raving mad kids that wanted to brutally murder the kid. the drama was soon left and everyone made their way to their first period, for abby that was science with mr hyatt.

as the brunette walked in, all eyes turned to her, it was like she was the new shiny toy in pre school, all the kids wanted.

"i assume you are miss garcia?" the teacher said. looking towards abby, his white science cloak stood out most when abby looked at him, made him look like a pro.

"yes, thats correct" abby politely replied.

"pleasure to have you join my class, please take a seat next to cory on the third table" mr hyatt said, abby looked in the direction the teacher pointed, her mind wondered if it was the same cory from this morning, and like she suspected, it was.

a smirk lifted on cory's face as he realised abby was stuck with him for the rest of the term, he was thankful as he wanted to know the girl better anyway.

once abby took her seat, mr hyatt continued with his lesson.

while note taking in her book, she received a tap on the shoulder.

she turned around, looking at a blonde boy she'd never seen before. he held out a note and she grabbed it, turning back around in her chair. she unraveled the note, revealing a note.

𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘨𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦?

'hmm no' abby thought to herself. she turned back around and gave the person a look, a look that said everything that needed to be said without any words.

"c'mon, i'll make it fun, i make everything fun" he said, attempting to be flirtatious but failing horribly to the point it made abby cringe in disgust. people around were slyly watching the conversation, including cory who seemed rather interested.

"yeah no, you're balls deep in your ego, not my type" abby sarcastically smiled, leaving the boy with a face of shock as she turned back around, a few chuckles and laughs were heard from around, mainly from boys but some of the girls.

"enough with whatever's happening back there, get on with your work" mr hyatt ordered, making people cover their mouths to hold in their laughs.

cory nudged abby slightly.

"fiesty one aren't ya?" he said, a smirk written across his face.

abby simply rolled her eyes and continued her work, waiting for the lesson to be over.
