Believe it or not, this is the short version. is the long version. This list is shorter, but goes into more detail on the individual archangels. I am using it as reference material, so I can decide how I want to use these characters. Most of the angels listed here are the more well-known ones, but there are a few more obscure ones thrown in. The title is a bit misleading; I can't promise that all of these angels will appear in TWF, but most of the angels listed here will probably be at least referenced. (Lucifer is notably not listed; see previous chapter.) I don't have a definitive list of archangels yet, and I may never, but if I do, it will be some combination of the ones on this list. My sources are mostly Doreen-Virtue-type New Age sites, because they're consistent. Who would you like to see appear in the story?

Abdiel: An angel from the Book of Raziel, also a warrior seraph in Paradise Lost. Means "servant of God."

Adabiel: Listed as one of the seven archangels in one source, an angel of Jupiter. Sometimes equated with Zadkiel or with Nergal.

Admael: One of the angels with dominion over the earth and over creation. Watches over Earth's plants and animals, and protects newborn babies.

Adriel: Means "my help is God," an angel of death (who slays all souls left in the last days, apparently). Guards the gate of the South Wind. Probably another name for Azrael.

Akatriel (Achtariel): A great angel prince, with the epithet Sabaoth ("lord of hosts"). An Angel of the Presence. Sometimes designated as a manifestation of the Godhead itself. Also called Ketheriel (crown of God). Like Metatron, he functions as an anthropomorphic "face" of God. Basically a personification of the sephira Kether.

Anael (Haniel): An archangel, the ruler of Principalities, angel of joy and grace. Has control over earthly kingdoms, of the Moon, and of the planet Venus. Rules intuition, emotions, and human sexuality. Acts as a conduit between the human and divine realms, and helps humans to find happiness in their lives. An Angel of the Apocalypse. Rules Capricorn and December. Appears as a woman wearing turquoise and with silver wings. Her aura is turquoise. Means "joy of God."

Anafiel/Anaphiel (Anpiel): Keeper of the keys to heaven and the "prince of water." Means "branch of god" or "shield of God."

Ananchel: The angel of grace, sent by God to Esther. Means "grace of God."

Ananiel: One of the Watchers, an angel of rain. Taught meteorology to humans, and is an angel of the South Wind. In the Coptic Orthodox Church, he is one of the seven archangels. Means "rain of God."

Ariel: An archangel, and a leader of the Virtues. The angel of nature — plants, animals, and minerals, and earth elementals. Also an angel of creativity, abundance, and healing. May be a form of Uriel. Able to bind the demons Bifrons and Dantalion. Her aura is pink and green. Means "lion of God."

Asariel: One of the angels ruling over the mansions of the moon. The angel of Neptune in modern occultism. Means "whom God has bound (in an oath)."

Azrael: The Angel of Death, who separates the body from the soul upon death and acts as a psychopomp. He also provides comfort to the dead, the dying, and the grieving. (Also Asriel or Ashriel). His aura is cream-yellow/off-white. Means "whom God helps." (Also called Asriel, Thanatos, Anubis, Mot, Malach al-Mawt, the Grim Reaper, Alnathuen, or simply Death.)

Baradiel: An archangel and angel of hail.

Barakiel/Barachiel: An archangel, the angel of lightning and blessings. One of the "4 ruling Seraphim" and maybe one of the 7 archangels. Brings success in games of chance. Also an angel of Jupiter, Pisces, February, and Scorpio. Means "blessed by God." (or Baraqiel, "lightning of God")
