As I approached the wall, I saw a little staircase and a door leading inside and knew that was my best and most likely only ticket in. The metallic noises started getting louder but as soon as I reached the doorway and went inside, the noises quickly ceased. "They stopped," I said. "That can't be a good sign." I continued onward, hoping I can get a gun somewhere before these Fallen find us. They were inside the wall as well, I can hear them above me, so I try taking my time moving quietly so I don't make much noise and alert them of my presence. It started to get darker the farther I went in, and I was starting to get this faint, but strange feeling, like this darkness is not normal.
I continued froward to the point where I can't see anything and my Ghost came out and lighted the way ahead. But even with her light, it was still difficult to see the path ahead. "This is not working," she said. "Hang tight, I'll take a quick look around, see if we can find a light switch." She flew away and her natural light was revealing more Fallen hiding in the darkness.
As she moves farther away, that strange feeling came back which confirmed this darkness is not normal. Soon enough, the lights started turning on and the Fallen started howling and running for cover. "We got company," Ghost yelled. She flew back to me as quickly as she could, "I found a gun for you, over here." She flew over to a closed gate that just now opened and beyond it was an old gun. It looked to me like a Khvostov 7G-02 and just from looking at it, there were even a few magazines next to it. I grabbed the gun and magazines, and started heading down the hall.
At the other end, I saw a figure that quickly flees away the moment it saw me. "What was that?" Ghost said. She sounded scared and I don't what it was myself, so I peaked around the corner and see if it was there. The coast looked clear but then, there were two enemies that fell from the ceiling, a Fallen Dreg and Vandal. The Dreg sort of looked human but with a few differences here and there, and the Vandal had four arms, a weird looking helmet that had horns pointing down and holding a gun I've never seen before.
They opened fired on me and I fired back without hesitation and I quickly won the firefight. They went down in a few shots, maybe seven or so. This gun had a bit more power than I originally thought. I continued forward and encountered another Dreg that dropped down from the ceiling, landing directly in front of me. Instead of using my gun, my instincts kicked in , making me grab my knife and stab him from the bottom of its jaw, killing it instantly in one swift motion. I stood there frozen trying to process what I just did because it just happened so fast.
I soon come back to my senses and pull my knife out of the Dregs head and continue forward. As I continue on the path, I soon reach a bridge and on the opposite side, I see what looks like a cache of some kind, and Ghost recognized it almost immediately. "Hey, there's a loot cache up ahead," she says. "Go ahead and see what's inside." I jogged across the bridge and open it, to find little cobalt glowing cubes. "What are these?" I asked. "That's called Glimmer, it's the currency everyone uses in the city," Ghost said. "Guardians mostly use it for upgrades to their armor and weapons." Sounds useful. When I went ahead and reached in to grab the Glimmer, it disappeared. "What the?" I say in confusion, but I decided not question it.
Along side with the cache, there is a sniper rifle on the side and it looked in better condition than the rifle in my hands. I decided to take it with me and sling it over my shoulder since it's too cramped in here to use it.
Before I even started moving, I heard two metallic clangs down the hall, followed by a low humming sound. When I looked to see what it was, I saw these two little rods on either side of the wall sticking out, shooting a red laser that shot to the opposite side. "Don't touch them! They're trip mines!" Ghost said sharply. I quickly examine the placement of the mines and they were in a crooked X, the one closest to me was high and was pointing to the bottom right corner of the hall, while the second one was almost perfectly horizontal and was up to my chest. I crouch low under the first mine, then lower almost to a crawl under the second and I stood back up once I was on the other side.
As I looked down the hall, there were some Fallen Dregs and a Vandal waiting for me on the opposite end and there were more mines in the way, and they looked like they'll be harder a bit to go through. I decided to shoot at the Fallen first and they retreated further down the hallway, like they're luring me to an ambush ahead. At least now I can deal with the mines. I tried shooting the mines one at a time, and each bullet set them off and I cleared the way. I continued down the hallway that lead to a small flight of stairs and a big room. There were Fallen everywhere but there was one that stood out, holding two long swords, covered in electricity. I started by shooting him because I did not want him to get close enough to slice me into bits. He went down after a few shots, then I quickly reloaded a fresh magazine and picking off Dregs, one after another.
Soon, the room was clear. "The Fallen have a tighter hold on this place than I thought," Ghost commented. "We're almost out, let's hope there's something left out there." I hope there's something out there too. From what I saw outside the walls, the place is pretty dead. I did a quick look around the room for an exit and I found a door that lead to a giant air tube with a slow rotating fan at the end, along with another exit and we were getting close to the other side, I can smell the fresh air.
I walked down the tube and through the exit and it looks I've reached the other side of the wall. As I looked around my surroundings, here were a few old rusty tanks on my left, a few garage buildings around the area with one of them close to me and another two off in the distance along with a building with a way inside about maybe a good hundred or so meters away and off in the distance I can see a grounded colony ship that never launched.
"This is an old cosmodrome," Ghost said. "Maybe we can find a ship somewhere. Let's try the building over there."
And right on cue, I heard howls off in the distance and a red flare got shot up in the air, then a few seconds later, way off in the distance a big bright red orb forming in the sky. Soon, a giant ship appeared and it sent out a shockwave so strong I felt it and knock me back a little almost off my feet, the shockwave even knocked down two of the towers when the ship appeared. As it flew towards my direction, I knew that it was bad news so I retreated back to the tunnel I came out of and wait for it to fly by and as I waited, I heard a smaller ship appear so I peaked out and saw it was dropping reinforcements behind one of the far age buildings to cut me off. Once it was done dropping off the troops, I watch it activate it's cloak as it flew away. "Lovely," I said.
