Third person's POV

Honey tugged at the hem of the dress she had on. "This dress is too short and too revealing," she complained. "It feels like I'm not wearing anything at all. I feel like a cheap hooker in this thing."

"Stop whining, Honey," . Maisie said, rolling her eyes. "The dress looks perfect on you. And you're going to knock their socks off with your stunning looks."

"I don't see the need to wear this unless......Please tell me you're not up to something reckless," Honey said.

"What do you mean?" Maisie asked, feigning innocence.

"You conniving vixen!" Honey said, her voice dripping with accusation. "You've been plotting all along, haven't you?"

Maisie let out a low, throaty laugh. "You finally caught on, huh? There's no turning back now."

"I can't believe you, Maisie!" Honey cried. "I thought we were friends!"

Maisie feigned innocence, batting her eyelashes. "Oh, you know we're the best of friends and a little harmless mischief never hurt anyone, right?" Maisie said with a wink. "Now come on, let's head out and enjoy the evening!"

Honey huffed and rolled her eyes, but allowed Maisie to help her down the stairs. "Don't think I'm going to forget this," she grumbled, as Zeus followed at their heels, wagging his tail.

"Don't be such a grump!" Maisie said, laughing. "It's going to be a fun night, I promise."

''Woof! Woof!'' Zeus barked as they stepped out of the house.

''No Zeus you're staying indoors today,'' Maisie said.

"I can't leave him behind!" Honey protested. "He wants to come along, and I need him."

"You don't need him," Maisie insisted. "It's just the two of us for girls' night out. No dogs allowed!" She closed the door firmly, cutting off Zeus' pleading gaze.

"That was a bit harsh," Honey said, settling into the passenger seat.

"I heard that," Maisie said with a smirk.

"I didn't say anything!" Honey protested, feigning innocence.

Maisie just shook her head and started the car, pulling out of the driveway.

As they pulled up to the front of the Nightshade club, Maisie tossed her keys to the valet and practically dragged Honey to the front door.

"I can walk just fine on my own," Honey protested, struggling to keep up with Maisie's quick pace.

"Just trust me, okay?" Maisie replied. "I know my way around this place, and you don't. So just follow my lead."

Honey sighed, but decided to go along with it. "Yes, ma'am," she muttered.

As the two friends made their way through the velvet-rope entrance of the Nightshade, the bright lights and pounding music washed over them like a tidal wave of sensory overload. Maisie, unfazed by the scene, strutted confidently to the front desk. "Reservation for two under Sparrow," she announced to the snooty-looking hostess.

"Yes, of course," the hostess replied, her eyes flicking over Maisie's designer dress and heels. "Right this way, Miss Sparrow."

The club was unusually crowded for a Wednesday night, and Maisie wondered what had brought the extra throngs of people out on a weeknight. She was used to the club being far less busy during the week, and she couldn't help but feel a bit put out by the change in atmosphere.

They pushed their way through the sweaty bodies on the dance floor, and finally made their way up to the VIP area, where they found some relief from the crush of bodies. As they took a seat, Maisie ordered two martinis from the bartender.
