I fumbled with my keys as i tried to open the door to my dorm room. Finally, the door clicked open. As i walk in i see my home for the next 5 years. it was compact.. a better word for small. there was a bunk bed against the wall to my right and to my left there were 2 wardrobes next to which there was a door leading to the bathroom. Straight ahead there was a tiny window below which there were two study tables with soft boards. My name 'Veronica Sarin' was posted in bold letters on one of them. The room looks cozy. I was pretty happy with my room.

There was already a suitcase underneath one of the tables. I guess my roommate had already arrived. Looked like she picked her table and wardrobe. She had set up her desk. i walked over to find a note on her pillow:

---

Hey! :)

I'm Aleena Malik, I've taken the bottom bunk and the wardrobe to the left. I hope you dont mind.. Can't wait to meet my roomie for the next five years! We're gonna have so much fun! I've just gone out for a cup of coffee and to see my parents off! left this note just in case I'm still gone when you come. xx

---

I put down my suitcase and opened it to unpack, i was quite happy to get the top bunk.

I've just moved to London to study Architecture and was going to begin life on my own. I unpacked my clothes into the empty wardrobe and put my stationery, books, sketching pads, pencils and paints into the draws in the study table. i walked into the bathroom, neat and clean, kept my toiletries in the empty cabinet. There was a mirror there, as i looked into it i couldn't help but think of my sister... We both had the same Dark green eyes framed with long lashes, Inherited from our mum, Victoire who is french and the same long black wavy hair from my dad, Akshay Sarin who is Indian. Mine was jet-black but hers was more on the brown side.. Thats where our similarities ended. I'm very tall, like my father, about 5 feet 9 inches, skinny, but she was more slender and graceful than i was or could ever be. I realised that my eyes had gotten misty.

I was done unpacking.

My parents had just walked in. "So this is your home for the next few years, Ronnie."Mum said, a hint of sadness in her voice.

i knew it was time to say goodbye to my parents. I could see the tears clouding up my mothers eyes and my dad had gone extremely quiet. "We know you're a responsible girl." My dad said breaking the silence."Take care of yourself and focus on your work."

I could feel the hot tears streaming down my own cheeks. This would be the first time i would be living in a different country from my parents. "Take care of yourself, darling" said my mum, her voice soft. My dad pulled me into a tight hug, and my mum kissed me on my cheek. I walked down to see them off. I gave them one last tight hug. As they got into the car I realised my father began to tear up. I'd never seeen him this sad since 'it' happened. As they drove away, i realised that i was the second child they were losing.

I walked back upstrairs into my room, There was girl about my age, sitting on the chair by her table. She looked up at me and had a wide welcoming smile, She had shoulder length straight brown hair and really pretty grey eyes. "I'm Aleena, you must be Veronica?", she was a lot shorter than me, she was very pretty. "Hi Aleena, it's nice to meet you. I got your note." I smiled back at her and shook her hand. "The warden told me you'd be my roommate." i said. "So, Veronica, are you new to London?" Aleena asked me. "Yeah, I've never been here before. You can call me Ronnie by the way, all my friends do." She smiled, "Okay, Ronnie, I could show you around! Where do you wanna go first?"

Just then there was a knock on the door behind me, I walked over to open it.

There he was. The most gorgeous boy i had ever seen. He smiled at me with his beautiful hazel eyes and perfect straight teeth. He looked about 6feet tall. High cheeck bones, dark messy hair. He turned his focus towards Aleena and walked to her and gave her a hug.

'Please dont be her boyfriend' i thought to myself.

"You left this in the car" He said handing her a package. She turned to me and said "Ronnie, this is my cousin Zayn. Zayn this is my roommate, Veronica."

"Hi Ronnie" He said smiling at me. "Hi." I replied smiling back at him feeling my cheeks go slightly red. Hi? That's all I could say? I was always pretty awkward around guys that i thought were good looking. 'Cousin..' I smiled to myself.

"Ok, i Gotta run.. got rehearsals with the boys. You guys can call me anytime you want. I'm just a phone call away if you need anything." he said his goodbyes and left us to ourselves.

"He looks familiar" i thought. "Yeah, Zayn's actually a member of 'the world's biggest boyband' One Direction." Aleena answered. "And that's why he's got rehearsals for his tour." Thats when i realised that I'd said it out loud instead, and I blushed inwardly.

"Ohh yeah, my little cousin loves One Direction! She's got a room filled with their posters, that's why he looked familiar"

Thoughts of him wouldn't leave my mind. He was just so handsome, no wonder my little cousin loves them.

That night i realised that my roommate Aleena was extremely friendly, she hardly ever ran out of stuff to talk about. She was so easy going which made it easy for me to make conversation with her, which is usually something I'm not very good at. I knew we were going to be very good friends. And i realised that everything was going to be okay.
