It all started with the summer heat from the bright sun hitting my face as I walked out of the Los Angeles' airport. I took a deep breath and gripped my bags tighter. This was definitely a beginning of a new era for me and if I'm going to be honest I didn't know how to feel about it. I was nervous and excited at the same time, but then exhausted from the trip here. I was definitely nervous for what was to come, but then excited at the same time. I was really excited to see my cousin, Lexi, who I was going to be living with while I'm here. I mostly came to LA looking for a new start. Don't get me wrong I loved where I lived back in New Mexico, but I've lived there all my life and needed a change. I looked around for Lexi's car and finally spotted it parked a little ways away from where I was standing. I quickly began walking towards it. Before I was even half way, Lexi jumped out of the car, ran over and threw her arms around me for a hug. I laughed and set my bags down to hug her back."Oh my gosh!! I'm so happy you are finally here, Grace!" Lexi exclaimed when she stopped hugging me. There was my boring name...I wish I had any other name then Grace.
I smiled at her "I'm happy to be here. It's been so long since I've seen you."
Lexi smiled back at me. She was definitely the better looking out of the two of us. She had straight platinum blonde hair that fell to the middle of her back. She was dress in a black tank top, Jean shorts and black tennis shoes. Her skin is more tan then mine and I guess that is from the sun out here. Even though she was a year older then me she was a little shorter then me and she had the brightest blue eyes that I have ever seen. She is the type of girl who probably has all the guys staring at her as she walked down the street and probably has a million of them asking for her number.
"Here, let me help you with your bags." She said and grabbed some of my bags before I could reply. She led me to her car and opened the trunk. Once the bags were loaded we got in.
"Ok! You have to fill me in on everything that has happened since the last time I've seen you." Lexi said and she started to drive away from the airport.
"Mom and Dad are doing good. So is Alex, Justin and Kylie. Alex and Justin moved out, they are off doing their own things and figuring out life. Kylie still lives at home, but she got her drivers license so she is excited about that. Other then that it's been about the same." I replied. Alex, Justin and Kylie are my siblings. Of course all siblings have their ups and downs, but I still love them and would do anything for them. I ended up leaving out the part where my parents and me got into a fight before I flew out here...they didn't want me to come. They were scared something would happen, but sometimes you gotta take risks.
"I'm glad to hear they are all good. I've missed them too!" Lexi smiled once I finished. "I'm excited for you to meet my friends here! You are going to love them!" She then went on and on about her friends and also mentioned her job at an ice cream parlor. I sat patiently and listened, only talking when needing too. I was excited to meet her friends, but nervous of what they would think of me. I didn't want to give them the wrong impression of me. By the time Lexi stopped talking we were pulling into her driveway.
"Home sweet home!" She smiled and stopped the car. We both got out and grabbed my bags before heading inside. "The spare room is all set up for you. I didn't really know what color you like so it's mostly black or dark gray colors." She said as she led me up the stairs to the bedroom.
"Those colors are fine. It doesn't really matter to me." I answered. I really didn't care about the colors and decorations. Lexi was giving me a place to live and that's all that matters to me right now. She opened the double doors that lead to the room. I stopped in the doorway and stared at the room in shock. This room was huge! It looked like they built a small house inside of another house. To the right of the room was the king size bed that had dark gray bedding on it. On either sides of the bed there was nightstands that were colored black with gold handles on them. One of them had a small lamp on it. Across from the doorway I was standing in was a glass sliding door leading to the balcony. It had black curtains pulled off to the side to cover the doors to cover them if needed. To the left there was a tv hung up on the wall and right below it there was a fireplace. The fireplace looked brand new like it has never been touched before. I also noticed a dark gray couch facing towards the tv with a small black coffee table in front of it. To top it all off there is as pitch black rug underneath the small table and couch. There was also a door next to the fireplace leading to the bathroom.
"I'll let you get some rest. You've had a long day. My boyfriend, Caspian, is going to bring pizza for us to eat in a little bit. I'll let you know when he is here." Lexi explained as she set some of my bags down. I quickly followed in suit and set the bags I had been carrying down. "Oh and before I forget! One of my friends is having a party later on tonight. I thought I'd invite you, but it's totally ok if you don't want to go. I don't want you to get overwhelmed on your first day here and-"
"I'd love to go. It sounds like a lot of fun!" I cut her off and smiled. She has always been such a big over-thinker. Which is ok, but I'd rather not disappoint her by staying here tonight.
She gave me a smile and hugged me again. "I'm so excited for you to meet my friends! I'll leave you alone now so you can rest." She said before she walked out out of the room, shutting the door behind herself as she left. I sighed and glanced around the room before flopping down onto the couch. I was definitely nervous for tonight, but I don't want to worry about that right now. For now I'm just going to rest and worry about that later on. I grabbed the remote and turned on the tv to find something to watch, but that didn't last long before I was drifting off to sleep and forgetting all about Los Angeles and the party.
