It was a normal day at school. Well, it was supposed to be.
Miss Bustier announced that there would be two new students joining the class, and that everyone should be nice and welcome them warmly, eyeing Chloe and Sabrina.
Adrien fiddled with a pencil, wondering what the new students would be like.
"I hope I make a good impression." he said to Nino, to which he replied,
"Of course you will, don't sweat it. I'm just worried that the new kids will fall victim to her."
Adrien looked over at who Nino was talking about. Estella Castillos. She had been a new student about a week ago and was now comfortably seated behind Chloe Bourgeois.
(Estella Castillos, drawn by me)
Estella noticed that she was being watched and sent a smile towards Adrien. A smile that was both charming, and rather unsettling. Almost as if she read their minds, she made a waving away gesture with her hand, as if to say she wasn't going to cause trouble.
Estella knew why she was lumped together with the class bully. She herself hadn't been careful enough. Admittedly, it was foolish to spread gossip around a class where everyone was friends with everyone. Well, except Chloe and Sabrina.
Chloe Bourgeois was.... an interesting person to deal with, to put it lightly. However, Estella was intrigued by her status. Keeping her close by could prove useful. Sabrina was rather nice too.
Adrien Agreste, on the other hand, wasn't particularly fond of Estella due to the incident. Which was a shame, a potential business partner so close yet still out of reach. Gaining back Adrien's favour was definitely on Estella's priority list.
"Ah, looks like they're here." Miss Bustier declared.
The door then opened and the class could then get a good look at their new additions.
The first to walk through the door was a girl. She had long, dark hair that was tied into a thick braid. Her footsteps were quick, brown eyes sweeping over the class as she walked.
The second to enter was the one who opened the door. A blonde boy, grinning as he strode confidently across the classroom and stood next to the girl while putting a hand on his hip.
Hm? Interesting. Estella perked up at the sight of the two.
From the way the boy was standing, he looked rather full of himself. Purple eyes looking back at the students, as if waiting to be announced. The girl, meanwhile, didn't seem to care less. The minute she had stopped walking, she pulled out a compact mirror from her bag and began gazing at herself.
"Class, this is Zella Larissa and Lucien Ong." Miss Bustier introduced.
A monotonous "Hi." was said in unison. Zella snapped her mirror shut and flipped her hair. Lucien curtsied.
"You all can call me Echo." he said with a dramatic hand gesture. Said gesture also caused him to drop his water bottle to the floor, making a puddle on its surface.
There was an awkward silence coupled with snickering from Kim as Echo quickly picked his bottle back up, muttering something about technical difficulties.
"Don't worry about it. Go ahead and sit in the empty seats." said Miss Bustier with a smile.
Zella went to sit next to Nathaniel, while Echo took a seat next to Estella, who had a glint of interest in her eyes.
Oh boy, Adrien hoped she wasn't planning anything.
Just then, the door burst open, and in rushed a frantic girl with a pink half zipped backpack and two low pigtails.
"Hi! Sorry! Sorry! I'm late!" she said in haste. The girl then slipped on the puddle of water, causing papers from her backpack to fly onto the floor.
It wasn't hard to notice Zella's poor attempt to stifle her laughter at the sight, which her desk mate gave her a side eye for.
"Ohohohohoho, honestly Dupain-Cheng, are you just attracted to falling?" Chloe laughed.
Adrien sighed. As he made to get up to help, someone else beat him to it.
"Are you good girl? Sorry, the puddle was my fault." Echo said as he helped her up.
"I'm okay. Aw, my papers are wet!" the girl exclaimed as she quickly picked up her papers from the floor.
Miss Bustier responded kindly, "Don't worry Marinette, I can supply you with more later. Just take your seat and we can begin the lesson."
Marinette walked to her seat rather glumly, and was quick to be comforted by Alya, who filled her in on what she missed.
"By the way, you should get here on time more often. You're missing the morning fun!"
"Sure Alya."
During the lesson, Echo sneaked a peek at his phone.
Frankie~💙
last seen today at 7:00am: If u want I can give u a lift after school.
Sure :) :
He grinned. It would be the first time he saw Frank in months. Wonder how he's getting on with his petty cousin, he thought. A tap on his elbow brought him back to reality.
His deskmate was staring at him with a small smile. She glanced down at his phone, then at Miss Bustier, then back at him. Echo quickly kept his phone and went back to his workbook.
A small note was slipped across the table.
Hi :)
Echo glanced at his deskmate.
Yello.
A new note was slipped.
Estella. You're welcome btw
Echo side eyed Estella. There was a catch to the 'favour' she did.
Wat u want.
Estella grinned at him.
"Estella, please stop bothering Lucien." Miss Bustier called.
Estella looked embarrassed. Chloe turned around, "He just got here and you're already making moves? Desperation much."
"She wasn't bothering me, I had questions to ask and she was happy to answer." Echo clarified.
Estella's eyes lit up.
Miss Bustier raised an eyebrow in amusement, "Alright, just don't get so carried away you fall behind. Now, back to page 39..."
"Bet you 2 euros she's already fallen for him." Nathaniel heard Zella murmur as she wrote.
