*Flash back*

What do you mean your leaving? You said looking at your boyfriend, Alfred, in astonishment. "I'm sorry __(y/n)__, but........ I've been called in... to go to war.", he said not looking you in the eye. "What, but you can't go, I need you.", you said, tears springing into your (e/c) eyes. "I know, but I have to go.", he said sadly. "Wh-when are you leaving?", you stuttered. "Tomorrow...", he said quietly. That was when you couldn't hold it in anymore. You started crying right on the spot. "Aw come on babe, you know I can't stand to see you cry.", he said hugging you tightly. "Smile, please, just for me.", he said lifting your chin and looking into your (e/c) eyes. You wiped your tears away and put on a small weak smile. "See, that's better.", he said smiling. He pushed your (h/c) hair out of your face. You hugged him tightly. "Don't worry, I'll be alright.", he said. "Promise?", you said sniffling into his shirt. He smiled. "I promise, hero's honor, and I'll protect you too, forever and always.", he said kissing your head. "Alright, I should probably get ready.", he said hugging you one more time before going into your bedroom.

*Time skip-next day- brought to you by Tony and Kumajiro*

You stood at the front door, waiting for the military to come and get Alfred. He walked into the hallway with his suitcase. He set it down and walked over to you. "Don't worry so much, I'm the hero remember, and the hero always wins.", he said sporting his goofy grin. You giggled. "Of course I remember, you're my hero after all.", you said. "Great, I'll be thinking about you the whole time while I'm gone.", he said. "And I'll always be thinking about you.", you said. Alfred bent down a bit and kissed you. "I'll really miss you, you better come home ok?", you said. He laughed. "Ok, ok, you know I will, I can't leave my damsel here, your the Lois to my Superman.", he said. You smiled. Then suddenly, there was a knock on the door. You opened the door and saw a man in a military uniform outside the door; a bus behind him. "I guess it's time for me to go.", said Alfred. He hugged you tightly, tears filling your eyes. "I'll miss you.", you said crying. "I'll miss you too, but I'll be back.", he said. "Excuse me, but we have to go now.", said the officer. You nodded. "Goodbye, see you soon.", you said. "I'll see you later.", he said. He kissed you one more time before getting on the bus. He waved as they left. You waved until You couldn't see them anymore. You went back inside and broke down crying. After a couple minutes, you wiped your eyes. "It's ok, I have to stay strong, for Alfred.","he will be back, he promised.", you said.

~I remember tears streaming down your face when I said, "I'll never let you go" When all those shadows almost killed your light I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone" but all that's dead and gone and

passed tonight

Just close your eyes the sun is going down you'll be alright no one can hurt you now come morning light you and I'll be safe and sound~

You sat on the couch, looking at your favorite picture of you and Alfred together. It was when he and you went to the carnival. He had won you a stuffed (f/s/a) and you got him and alien plush that he named Tony. In the picture, you both were smiling, holding your gifts. Behind you was the ferris wheel. It was taken a little before he went to war. That was 5 years ago. Since then, you've read every newspaper article and watched every news report on the war. You felt sick every time you hear that more soldiers have died, afraid that Alfred might have been one of those people. You looked at the picture one more time before setting it down and going to the back porch. You stood outside, letting the warm air hit your face. The sunset was big and beautiful. It was bright orange and it looked like everything was on fire. 'This war has been going on for almost eight years now, almost five years of which had Alfred in it.', 'Too bad that the world can't be like this all the time. While it's beautiful and calm here, everything is destroyed from war somewhere else.', you thought to yourself. "Please, just let Alfred be ok.", you whispered. After a while, you went inside and went to bed.

~Don't you dare look out your window, darling, everything's on fire the war outside our door keeps raging on hold on to this lullaby even

when music's gone, gone

Just close your eyes the sun is going down you'll be alright no one can hurt you now come morning light you and i'll be safe and sound~

*time skip, a couple months later, brought to you by my seal of approval, Flippy*

You sat down on the couch, watching the news. The war was officially over and America had won two days ago. In the end, France helped America out, which pushed us to victory. "Yes!", you shouted, happily jumping up from the couch. You then heard something that made you freeze on the spot. "Though it is exciting that we have won, it is sad for how many losses we have had. We have lost most of our men in the fight. About 25,000 people have lost their lives in this fight.", "let's take a moment of silence.", said the newsman. You stayed quiet and bowed your head in respect. "The military will come around today to the lost soldiers relatives and loved ones.", said the newsman. After that, you started thinking. You got nervous thinking about Alfred. You looked at the side of the couch at the table, picking up the picture. "What if something happened?", "what if he's dead?", you said out loud. What you were thinking scared you. You started to cry, tears hitting the picture frame. You suddenly heard a knock on the door. "Oh no, don't tell me...", you thought to yourself. Picture in hand, you walked to the front door and opened it. "Hello?", you said. Your jaw dropped open and you almost dropped the picture at what you saw. "Hey __(y/n)__ I promised you I would be back, didn't I, and I don't break my promises.", said Alfred, goofy smile on his face, arms wide. "Alfred!!!", you yelled hugging him. "Hey babe, I missed you.", he said hugging you tightly. "I'm so happy!", "I'm glad that you're safe!", "I missed you!!", you cried into his chest. "I know, I know, but I'm here now, and I always promised you that I would always keep you safe, and that's a promise I definitely intend to keep.", he said smiling.

~Just close your eyes you'll be alright come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound...~

(extended ending)

A month after Alfred came back from war, he proposed to you. You both got married and some of the soldiers who Alfred had befriended during the war were there, as Alfred's best men at the wedding. After a year of being married, you and Alfred decided to have a child. When the child was born, it was a beautiful baby boy with Alfred's sandy blonde hair, and your (e/c) eyes. You both decided to name the baby Arthur, in remembrance of a certain British friend that you both had, who had also been called in to fight in the war, but the only sad thing about it was that, he was on the other side.
