Winds Of Change

Chapter 3

Jimin arrived on time for work as he walked through the door he released a deep breath 'here goes nothing'  he thought. "Hey, old man Lim where are you?" He called out.

  "Hey, min my boy you're just in time. I had a few ideas I wanted to try and think of to bring in new customers. This is my last hope to improve the restaurant if this doesn't work I'm afraid I'll have to close down for good this time that's why I need your opinion". Said, Mr.Lim

" Don't worry you're not gonna have to close down the shop but what do you need my opinion on exactly?"Jimin asked curiously

"Oh that well I'm trying to create a new menu but also I was thinking a few renovations have been long past due. One of my very dear old friends recently got in touch with me and offered to help free of charge as a way to repay me back for helping him when he went through a similar situation. So that's one thing off the table to stress about so my main focus is the menu".

"So you want to pick my brain? No problem I can even taste test for you but um" Jimin hesitated "My mom wants me to find another job she said I wasn't bringing in money fast enough to pay my dad's loans off".

" Oh Jimin son look you don't have to explain anything to me in sorry I'm such a terrible boss if I would've done better with managing money and supplies better then maybe my business wouldn't be failing. I would have money to actually pay you for all the hard work you do and with the way you work son there's an always guarantee bonus for you" Mr. Lim said with a sad smile on his face

"Look it's not your fault and I don't blame you shit happens right? Besides, I'll only work that other job until I save up enough money to find someplace else to stay and then I'm coming back here full-time after all it's my second home anyway" Jimin laughed

"You know what you're right this is your home so why not make it official? You can live here rent-free and stay as long as you want! How about it?"

"If I'm being honest I wanted to ask you if I could but with the renovations about to start soon I didn't think there was a need any longer".

" But min that's the best thing about it the renovations won't take long at all. The team he has doing them are the same people who worked on the big building in the middle of the city and you know it only took them a few months before it was up and running. Well, this is an ant compared to it so it'll be done in a week at most. Then again with all the manpower and hours, they plan to put in I think it'll be less than a week."

Jimin gasped "So there's no big-time delay? Wow well, in that case, let's get started on the menu I'll write down some ideas and look up different kinds of ingredients we can try".

"Ok that's fine but we only have two days until they start up the renovations so let's get as much done as we possibly can".

And with that, they both went into brainstorming mode

               A FEW HOURS LATER

" Oh, my aching back" Lim groaned as he rubbed it. "Come on min let's take a break and get something to eat while I cook why don't you tell me is there anything new or anyone new in your life like a girlfriend?"

"Ha ha ha very subtle old man but no I don't have a girlfriend. I'm not anybody's type and if they do talk to me it's probably cuz someone dared then. Like the girl on the bus, I'm sure she was just joking around she wasn't serious." Jimin mumbled

"Girl on the bus? So you met someone? Tell me about her!"

"There's nothing to tell the bus driver was being an asshole like usual and this girl called him on it in front of everyone and before she got off she slipped me a piece of paper with a number on it that's all."
